I was referred to Erik by my internist, whom had also seen Erik as a patient, and does not hesitate to recommend him to any of her patients that need physical therapy. I was having almost debilitating numbness and tingling in my dominant arm, and Erik worked with me to completely eliminate it in about 8 sessions. I am a physical therapist myself, and Erik has some skills I have never seen anywhere else. He's an excellent listener and phenomenal problem solver. I won't hesitate to go back whenever the next problem arises. Highly recommend.
I’ve gone to many PTs over the past decade working through 3 knee surgeries, and Erik takes the cake. The care plan is totally custom and I have made great progress since starting with Erik about 5 months ago. Only wish I had found Portland Physical Therapy much, much sooner! I’ve got increased range of motion, improved mobility, no more back pain, and feel much stronger, including plenty of supporting muscles I never knew existed/neglected before. I’ll be skiing this winter!
I came to Erik Kaufman for PT on my shoulder, after working with multiple other PTs for nearly a year with no improvement. Within one session, Erik was able to increase my range of motion and decrease my pain by ~80%, and I saw continued improvement with additional sessions and at home PT exercises. Truly worked some magic with the berry method. He is so patient and thoughtful in his approach to treatment, one of the few providers who I've felt is really invested in delivering quality care for their patients. I've also attended his weekly group workouts, which have been great! Cannot recommend him enough!
My knee was bothering me so I asked my Internist, Dr. Leonard, for a recommendation for Physical Therapy. She didn't hesitate before she recommended Erik Kaufman. She said she had seen great results with her patients having worked with Erik. My doctor also said Erik helped one of her patients avoid knee surgery that was already scheduled. I am in my 70's, fit and active. I take medication for cancer that I had three years ago. One of the side effects of that medication is bone deterioration over time. My oncologist, Dr. Topp, wanted to put me on an additional med to help with the bone deterioration. I strongly objected to that. Instead of medication, I asked for PT with Erik to help maintain my bone density. She gave me a year to work with Erik. A year later, my bone density test showed I gained 3% in my spine and hips and my neck. My doctor said just keep doing what you're doing with Erik. No meds were necessary! In addition to Erik's PT that eliminated my knee pain and improved bone density, I was also able to get off my C-Pap machine that I used for 8 years. My neurologist, Dr Ramseyer, recommended that I have a follow up sleep study and my results were normal. Eight years ago my sleep study showed that I had severe sleep apnea and my doctor said I would need the CPap for the rest of my life. I attribute the change of diagnoses to the exercises Erik prescribed. I can't recommend Erik enough. He works with his patients one on one. I am so grateful to be in my 70's, and still do the activities I love to do, thanks to Erik and his expertise and knowledge of the human body.
I recently went to Portland Physical Therapy to have Erik Kaufman look at an issue I was having with my hip. Erik assessed my issues, provided a thorough explanation of what was going on, provided on site treatment, and created an ongoing rehabilitation plan for me that has comprehensively fixed my issue. Throughout my experience at Portland Physical Therapy Erik was professional, respectful, and knowledgeable. He treated my issues seriously and made me feel like I was an active participant in my own treatment and rehab. He offered feedback that felt tailored to my specific needs. For any physical issue that I have in the future, Erik and Portland Physical Therapy will be the first place that I go! I would recommend Erik to anyone with a physical therapy need.
Erik Kaufman has been an invaluable resource to our non profit pickup soccer community. He has volunteered his services to many injured players over the years. He has personally treated my partially torn Achilles and gave me personal insight on how to prevent future injuries. I would not hesitate or think twice about using Erik. He is a very good listener, pays attention to details and has the knowledge to get you back on track with injuries. I wouldn’t think twice about using Erik and his services. It’s rare to find a physical therapist with his qualities and knowledge.
Erik is amazing, patient, and professional. I would highly recommend to a friend. I have had a lingering shoulder injury for years. He showed me several stretches and strengthening exercises which has limited my pain and increased mobility.
i worked with erik prior to him starting this practice. when i tore my pcl, i had to wait for nearly 2 months before i was able to start physical therapy, due to insurance delays. even with such a late start, erik was such a great physical therapist that 4 months into working with him, i was able to backpack the 30 mile loowit loop around mt st helen’s with minimal to no pain. during sessions, he is consistently able to identify and correct (via stretches, massage, or exercise) various pains across the healing process. erik is very knowledgeable, adaptable, and empathetic. can’t wait to see the new space!
