I can honestly say Self Space has had a real impact on my life, and on my family’s life too. I have referred over 20 people and have heard no negative feedback. For me, from the beginning, it felt different than other therapy experiences I’ve had. There’s a warmth and groundedness to the whole practice. You can tell it’s ethically owned and thoughtfully run, not corporate or transactional. The culture genuinely feels like it’s built around care, for both clients and the therapists themselves. The therapists I’ve worked with have been insightful, compassionate, and deeply present. They don’t just “do therapy”, they show up. The work we’ve done has changed how I communicate, how I handle stress, and how I show up in my relationships. It’s not an exaggeration to say it’s strengthened my family in tangible ways. What I appreciate most is that they treat you like a whole person. There’s no rush, no judgment, and no cookie-cutter approach. Just thoughtful, steady support that actually makes a difference over time.
I consider Sophia to be a close personal friend of mine. She's just a shockingly reasonable person. She's considerate, but also understands the importance of setting limits. I'm fairly emotional, and I can't tell you how many times I've vented at her because it's so grounding. She listens, understands the problem, and helps me find perspective, and I imagine she's like that with her clients, too.
Highly recommend Self Space to anyone struggling, regardless of the extent of their difficulties. Sophia Hilsen, a counselor, is an exceptional worker. She is driven, thoughtful, and genuinely listens to her clients, understanding their concerns and helping them develop effective solutions. If you’re contemplating whether Self Space is the right fit for you, you can be assured that you won’t find this level of care anywhere else!!
I highly recommend Sophia Hilsen as a mental health counselor. Her warm, grounding presence creates a safe place to be vulnerable and do the, sometimes difficult, work that good therapy requires. She is always learning and growing, which means a therapist who stays on the cutting edge of new techinques, and also is deeply familiar with what it feels like to be unlearning and learning new ways of being. Your journey will be cared for and nurtured in her hands.
I’ve always felt skeptical about talking to strangers about my problems, taking that first step can be so intimidating. However, when I came to Sophia, who is also a close friend of mine, she was incredibly patient and professional with me. I’ve always trusted her integrity and the way she genuinely cares for people, and that trust absolutely carries into her work as a therapist. She thoughtfully answered all of my questions and helped ease my doubts about beginning this new chapter. Most importantly, I felt truly heard. I’m so grateful not only for our friendship, but for the support she’s provided. I highly recommend her to anyone considering starting therapy.
Great inclusive space for mental health. They make finding a therapist less intimidating, and the matching process is a huge plus. Convenient location and a very supportive environment. Self space is full of truly excellent providers. Highly recommend.
Working with Hannah Scheuer has been such a wonderful experience and so life changing. This is my first time working with a therapist and I really wasn’t sure about the benefits of therapy initially. Since seeing Hannah, my view point has completely changed and she has helped me through some really tough life obstacles. If you’re looking for someone who truly takes the time to understand you and listens past a surface level, Hannah is IT! I’m so grateful I made the decision to use Self Space and I’m so glad I was matched with the perfect person. Would recommend to friend!!!
