Not leaving Martin Hoiness in 2008 when he denied to allow my disability is the biggest regret i have in this life. I wasted 15 years being over medicated and not helped with actual treatment. I got no treatment for 2 actual suicide attempts. I was denied disability when i had psychiatric exhaustion and then denied disability again after the last day i was able to work 8.13.2021. Subsequently social security has approved my disability but because of Dr Hoinesses' statements to Anthem denying me i lost my permanent disability that was owed me through my job. I was type caste by him and not allowed to get help for unsafe suicidality and not allowed to be paid the disability i worked 39 years for. The last thing i said to martin hoiness on 1/25/2022 was "I would rather die than follow your advice anymore" i did end up getting actual help with my suicidality from my PCP after that. I can say with a certainty that my life has been effected in a hugely negative way by not cutting off his control over my life much sooner. This man is at the bottom of all people of all time that i have ever worked with in my life. I would highly recommend to never allow this man access into your life. Allowing that access myself is the biggest mistake of my life

Dr. Hoiness has been my psychiatrist for about fifteen years (will this out me? ๐Ÿ˜€). He has not just stuck with me through an often *very* difficult clinical presentation, but has remained open to new methods of treatment - coming up with a helpful off-label med that many doctors might not have thought of, and agreeing to try a helpful new treatment that many doctors would not have been willing to stretch to try. Hand over heart, I can aver to you that Dr. Hoiness was in large part responsible (me and my family helped!) for pulling me out of some very dark spaces. I deeply appreciate both his medical skill and how he did not let me feel alone in my despair. Marty Hoiness is a superb doctor, a compassionate person, and dedicated to his patients. I would gladly recommend him to the people in the world that I care for most. On a lighter note, he also has an astonishingly complete Pez dispenser collection and is the most colorfully dressed doctor I know, but I fear in the age of Zoom not every patient will be able to appreciate this! Although I would have loved an immediate cure - we are still working on things! - it was not to be. But a clear silver medal goes to a sustained, educated, compassionate, and effective doctor-patient relationship. Personally I always call him Dr. Hoiness in the clinical setting, but in this one case I will close by saying thank you, Marty.

Best psychiatrist Iโ€™ve ever had. Very caring and goes above and beyond, putting in extra work to assist with issues outside of the office.

Marty is a true professional. We are so very fortunate that we found him. In my opinion, he is the best Psychiatrist in the state of Washington. We have sought psych services for a family member that lived in Sequim, Port Angeles and Edmonds, so they have seen a lot of Dr's. When we found Dr. Hoiness, it was the best day of my life. He saved our loved one. I am certain that had we not found Dr. H., that this person would be living on the street, or worse. Not only is that person not on the street, they are fully functional and have excellent coping skills because of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that they received in addition to the proper meds. I never thought I would see that in this lifetime. We are so grateful.

We are following Dr. Hoiness from VM to his private practice. He is patient, listens, and cares for the mental and emotional health of my adult son with ADHD, cognitive delays, and high functioning Autism.

Excellent Doctor and very respected in his field. He's one of the best in the Northwest. When he was with Virgina Masion Hospital they decided what time he spent with patients. They would over book to the max! And with him being so sought out by patients you would wait months to get into see him sometimes. But now he has his private practice its much easier and spends alot of time during office visits. Dr. Hoiness is very easy to talk to and takes great care in his patients. Hope this helps someone. It's hard to find a great doctor!

Dr. Hoiness is a smart and thoughtful Doctor. He does not push meds like others and he takes the time to understand what is going on both mentally and medically while others do not. Every visit, he encourages your progress and you never feel rushed.

I had Marty for a psychiatrist for five years. Every appointment, I always felt like he was rushing me and not concerned about my issues. I stuck with him though and did everything he told me to but was sick pretty much all of those five years. When I got laid off and lost my insurance, he said he'd work with me over the phone. However, every time I called, I was told I needed to come in and pay money I didn't have. My school's disability office asked me to register my bipolar with them by getting Marty to write a doctor's note. The school said they wanted to help me and had some various services they wanted me to benefit from. So I called up Marty's office to ask for help getting a letter. Marty refused to talk to me about why the letter was needed and gave me a condescending message through his assistant and ultimately refused to write the letter. In my bipolar meetup group, there are other people who have had Dr. Hoiness and are also frustrated with his lack of empathy and poor service.
