They state you should hear back within 3 days. 3 weeks later absolutely nothing from them. Don’t rely on them if you’re in a bad way.
In my mental health assessment I felt like the person wasn't engaging with what I was saying. They made me choose between working on panic attacks or depression and lonliness. I said I didn't know but they forced me to choose. So I picked the depression. They then made me choose CBT or councilling. I kept saying idk, but they made me choose. I said id rather councilling. They then said they thought CBT would be better so put me down for that. Also ignored every reason I was saying. I was waiting months and sent numerous emails. They did in fact respond but we're not very helpful. I was on a call with one of them and they said I was put down for CBT for panic attacks. I was confused since I was told I depression and what I was expecting. They switched me to depression and said councilling would make more sense. Completely incompetent. On top of all this they kept implying I said things I didn't and wernt listening at all to what I was saying. Their responses were almost always non responsive. Eventually I get therapy and have issues with therapist. They didnt listen to what I was saying. They were trying to say life long issues might be helped by exercise. I told them I've tried that before and it didn't help. And they kept insisting. They also said that I was doing well. They didn't want to engage with anything I was actually saying. Honestly it was insulting how little they thought of my Intelegence. Like I've never thought about exercise before. After this I felt awful. Next day I email and call steps2wellbeing. I told the issues with the therapist was poor communication, projection, and not listening. And she said "do you think one therapy session would help like a magic wand". It was so unresponsive to what I said and invalidating that when the call ended I just cried and felt hopeless. I'm now at a point where I just wish I never even went to get help. At least then there would be the hope that in the future I could get help. Now I've lost all hope and I can't see my self ever improving. This review is missing out tons of other issues and specifics too. This is just a broad overview of how awful of a time I've had so far. The entire journey I've just felt more alone, more hopeless, and more depressed. Honestly idk what to do anymore
A great service if you're ready for it. The therapist I had (Amy Slade) was incredible, professional, and kind. I would definitely recommend using STWB if you can.
After waiting for 11 weeks they decided not to help me because I had a baby to look after, then proceeded to call me uncooperative because I had no one else to look after my child while her father works and basically blamed my newborn child because she existed. I went there looking for help not to have more reasons to hate therapists! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.
I have used them in the past but they only offer short term solutions to life long issues. In 2023 I asked for support after I had several mental breakdowns due to the abuse and threats from my neighbour and the lack of support from the council and police in the matter drove me to a very desperate and dark time. So I needed the help badly. They never got back to me. Though the times they did help, it was short lived and I don't think they can help me. But no where else offers support without paying an extortionate fee.
I needed help with my mental health and instead of helping they decided to trigger me and expecting me to talk about something I didn't want to talk about, after I said no they continued to push to try and squeeze information that had nothing to do with my issues out. It's actually disgusting how I was treated I do not recommend steps to wellbeing because they don't know what they are doing and they're not professional at all.
Went for sleep problems and received a limited number of therapy sessions. My depression and anxiety scores got much worse as the sessions progressed. Was not offered any additional sessions or any other support despite that. Based on my experience, I must say that the service offered was inadequate and not effective.
Only had initial assessment so far, but the Trainee dealing with my call (Sophie) was really friendly, put me at ease, explained why certain questions were being asked and has definitely made me feel a lot less nervous about undertaking some form of therapy, having never had the nerve to do so before.
At the end of 2019 I underwent a 12 week course of CBT for anxiety and chronic depression. This is about the 3rd or 4th time I have used this excellent service, this time I am continuing to take antidepressants which together with the therapy is helping me to maintain a balance, whereas before I stopped the antidepressants fairly soon after the therapy finished. This time I had a follow up session about 2 months later to see how it was going....brilliant, it gave me that bit of extra support. I think the best approach with CBT is to accept that it is not a cure, but an Avenue that teaches and allows you to control your problems and to keep them from the forefront of your mind, allowing you to get on with life relatively normally, I still get bad days but I know how to pretty much overcome them now. So a massive thank you to STW and especially my therapist, without this the medical worries I have had over the last couple of months would have overwhelmed me, this is a highly recommended service.
I was at a very low point in my life, I had lost my mother, bills were piling up without the funds to pay them, couldn't afford the bedroom tax and council tax and my siblings were divided about the care our mother had received. Then to top it all off my daughter decided that she could not put up with seeing me because of my erratic behaviour and very aggressive moods as it was disrupting her life, & if it carried on I couldn't see my grandchildren as it was not fair to them. I was ashamed & I just wanted to die. I consider myself very lucky to have been put in touch with Steps to wellbeing. I attended weekly sessions in a group where I didn't have to explain myself. I learnt how to help control myself with the hand outs given at each session and additional help was offered by being able to speak to one of the ladies taking the group after the session had finished. They have given me a chance to be a person I like again. I am not out of the woods but can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I cannot praise this service too much. A very valuable service is offered by this business and I can say hand on heart it saved me.
