Superb dedicated staff. If your a little mad then you will probably end up here. Good location at the Royal South Hants Hospital.
Awfull place saw my daughter in canteen was watched every minute was even frightened to kiss her good bye they need to realize some go in there with little mental health and she was so scared to be put in the position I'm glad when moved out.
Came here Wednesday 13 of August I'm still here Friday 15 of August I came here under section 136 but the police The staff are lovely I explained my situation They understood Free coffee They always fed me The staff are great to chat too Some are upbeat staff Some are down to earth staff The turn over rate is high, so I explained my self over and over again but they understood But cleanliness........ The cleaner isn't pulling her weight Hair in the drain of the shower Homemade tampon on the floor The health care worker/transporter cleaned for me I'll do the same when I leave I was told I was going to a different ward today 15/8/25 But turned out to be a good thng that I didn't as there was no vaping etc... Great staff We even had a littler pick in the court yard But yeah cleanliness is big 3/5
My sister was admitted to Antelope back in March. There is nothing to like about this place. Awful! Thankfully my sister won her appeal and got out. I would never put anyone in this place. They don’t listen to patients or family. All they want to do is sedate patients, for an easier life/job. They force optional medication and restrain when not necessary. My sister became so much worse once admitted. My advice would be to avoid this place like the plague. And the fact that my sister was on a female ward but with 90% of the workers being male. This place should be shut down.
EMA Patient Transport were at Antelope House to transfer a patient to Southampton General Hospital for a wait and return appointment. The staff here were incredible and would like to thank them all for the transition.
i’m only giving one star as i can’t give it 0. this place is horrible, awful with medications- i am known to have seizures (not sure if epileptic as still being investigated) but the staff never know how to deal with it. i hate it here. i am genuinely concerned for my welfare. i have come in and am worse off than when i was in the community. 90% of staff are agency and rude. the other 10% are just nurses who have no idea how to work as a nurse in a mental health ward.
I'm severely bipolar, and due to suicidal depression, I was sectioned in this "hospital". First off, the good bits, the carers, general staff and nurses were brilliant with me. And I can see they are trying to help. But, and this is the main reason for most of the complaints published on this site, the MAJORITY of the problems with this department is the doctors. These doctors do not listen to the patients nor the other staff members. My report from these "professions" was about 10% fact and 90% misheard BS. This resulted in most of my bipolar medication being removed from my care. And due to being refused any access to a doctor to correct these mistakes since then, I've been left in a worse position than had I never attended this hospital, and without access, my suicide is just a matter of days away. So thank you to the doctors that couldn't be bothered. My suicide is on your hands (not that doctors nor the NHS actually understands the meaning of accountability).
My sister was sectioned a week ago and they did absolutely nothing to help her they think she is ready to go home and sent her home yesterday as she is the exact same as when she went in. If she succeeds in suicide I will 100% be blaming antelope house! They have don’t nothing nothing at all ! My mum and her husband have begged and told them she is not ready to come home and they don’t listen ! All they care about is having beds free.
to quote another review, patients with capacity are purposefully agitated so they can be sectioned and lose their right. staff are all the same in terms of no communication or understanding of mental health or individual needs and treat patients with complete disrespect. patients are even worse than they would be before coming to the ward, and the ward is similar to a prison
Have had to repeatedly chase up updates regarding my Wife’s medication. Every staff member my Wife and I have spoke to seem to give different information every time. It has been nothing but false promise after false promise. They have apologised after they admitted that they had not done enough or acted quick enough to help my Wife regarding her medication. Yet despite that I had to push for them to organise a meds review and after a lot of pressure they were finally able to fit my Wife in yesterday for a review and we were told as it was too late in the day to get the meds on the same day, they would be available no later than today and there would be someone available to drop the meds off to us this morning. This is something I had confirmed several times and even the psychiatrist said “that will be no problem. We have several practitioners travelling round Southampton to people all day for visits so getting one of them to drop these round will be fine.” After hearing nothing this morning I have had to chase this up again this afternoon. The person on the phone could not give me any information about this but asked if it would be ok for someone to call me back. Of course I received no call back but instead a text that stated I can collect the medication from Antelope house after 17:30. I called them again and they admitted that they do no have the “man power” to get the medication to us and it cannot be available before 17:30 as the medication was ordered too late to be able to get it sooner. Antelope house have been told several times that my Wife and I do not drive and we have 3 young children in the house and I am now being put in a situation where I need to leave my Wife, who doesn’t want to live anymore, at home alone with the kids or send my Wife on her own to get her meds from Antelope house via bus or taxi, neither of which I am happy or comfortable with at all. After being failed by Antelope house numerous times I just have to hope and pray that they actually do have the medication ready for me to pick up after 17:30 today because otherwise all Antelope house have been able to achieve up to this point is further impacting my Wife’s mental health for the worse - giving her less hope that she can get better and more belief that she is not worth anyone’s time. The cherry on top is that they have also managed to quadruple my stress levels and impact my mental health for the worse too.
