I’ve had such a positive impression of Wander Psychotherapy. It’s clear they’ve created a space that feels welcoming, inclusive, and really attuned to the needs of their clients. What stands out most is how thoughtful and flexible their approach to therapy is. You can tell they genuinely care about meeting people where they are and creating an environment where clients feel seen and understood. They offer a wide range of services and seem deeply committed to supporting their community in meaningful ways. Overall, it feels like a really special practice with a lot of heart behind it.

They sell a fog of disempowering and manipulative language. (Two stars for the decor)

Wander is a real gem! This is a truly thoughtful and inclusive group practice. Their team is deeply committed to supporting queer, trans, and neurodivergent clients with care that’s both trauma-informed and identity-affirming. It’s clear they prioritize creating a space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported in their healing! I enthusiastically recommend them!

There are so many wonderful, caring and professional therapists in San Diego—Miranda Millican is not one of them. Save yourself your time, your money, and most importantly your mental health and find someone else. Relational therapy views the therapeutic relationship as an opportunity to practice corrective and restorative relationships in a safe and supportive environment and this was not my experience with her. Rejection, loss, fears of abandonment; these are the issues people come to therapy to heal from, not to re-experience. If you expect integrity and ethical practices in therapy including open communication and a supportive approach to ending the therapeutic relationship you will not find that with Miranda Millican. Wander away…

A beautiful welcoming space with wonderful humans. Miranda and her team are clearly intentional about creating an environment for you to be open about life stressors and challenges and non-judgmentally helping you figure out how you want to move forward by offering caring insight and support.

I wholeheartedly recommend Miranda and Wander Psychotherapy. As a fellow therapist it has been rewarding to work with folks who are so professional, kind, and intentional with embodying ethical and trauma informed practices. Collaboration and communication has always been seamless and I can tell that Miranda and her team genuinely care about their clients and directing them to the most appropriate services. I sincerely look forward to continued collaboration and highly highly recommend!

Wander Psychotherapy touts itself as an organization that is supportive of neurodivergent and queer people while being anti-racist (even with books about how to be anti racist being easily accessible in the waiting from for anybody to read) however this was not my experience. Almost all therapists on hand are white and don't know how to deal with individuals that have more severe mental health struggles such as chronic suicidal ideation and cluster b personality disorders. They also do a poor job of supporting autistic people who have mid to higher support needs. Throughout my year at Wander, I felt like I made very little progress with therapists who were not able to help and support me regarding my mental health issues. The main reason I leave this review was that they called the cops on me when I was in a period of crisis. As an organization that claims to be supportive of disabled people, queer people, and PoC, they should be more than aware of the risks of calling the cops on a brown, trans, developmentally disabled client and attempt to deescalate in other manners. The cops ended up restraining me, threatening me, roughing me up and abusing me all through the time where held against my will in a mental institution for multiple hours, leaving me to find my way home with no access to my car (which they took me from with it being multiple miles away from the mental institution I was forced into). I could have been seriously hurt and not only did not feel better after this encounter, but further struggled with my mental health getting worse. It was an incredibly traumatizing experience that I got from a "therapeutic" organization that was supposed to help me and give me the tools I need to succeed. There were multiple steps they could have taken prior to this and they knew that the situation was de-escalating prior to them sending the cops on me as I was actively in call with my therapist at the time and talking about what I needed for de-escalation. I had no warning this would happen. If your disability and mental health needs are low support and you're white, maybe you'll have more luck and progress. But I advise BIPOC, trans people, and people with mid/high support needs mental disabilities and mental illnesses (ESPECIALLY people with chronic suicidal ideation) to avoid Wander Psychotherapy. I ended up more traumatized and frustrated in the end than I was prior to starting with them. This therapy group doesn't actually pratice what they preach regarding supporting marginalized people.

Such a creative and dedicated team! Owners and their staff really feel passionate about being inclusive and helping their neurodivergent clients build fulfilling and connected lives. And you have to check out their group offerings!

Barbara is seriously the best therapist I’ve ever had. She shows so much compassion, absolutely no judgment and genuinely creates a safe space. It’s very obvious that she cares and I’m so happy that I found her.
