horrifying experience this week after a really great experience last year. I was treated like a throw away test subject. They want a 3 hour intake next week - to poke and prod me, then a 5 month waiting list. I'm a human being, hurting and seeking help - not a test subject. The triage nurse was busy distracted, loud background noise, i asked her if she could eliminate - she preferred typing and shifting papers while having me on speaker phone. I kept my patience for several minutes - excused my self and hung up. AHP should be helping people not hurting them.
ay is a terrible therapist and this therapy program fails greatly on all levels and poorly designed leaving patients damaged deeper and in worst shape than before they began therapy in their terrible program. Disgusting and an embarrassment to ucsf and the medical industry. Therapists are cold, lazy, and cut n dry with no heart and no desire to do good and help heal. They only care about making their directors reports complete and collecting their paychecks. Your not a human patient. Your only another number to them that they could care less about or take responsibility for their damaging effects they do to their numbers that they herd through their feed lot of a broken dark horror treatment program. Huge mistake and regret going there. They need to be audited, reported, and restructured. Worst therapy program ever.
Great therapy, very secure building (accidentally walked up the stairs without knowing the security concerns), yeah therapy does take a lot of talking. I think my homeless contract had my once a month talk extend just beyond 1 year of talking, all without charging me nor requiring MediCal. Pity that I couldn't have my therapist again, but he still remembered me: great training by CIIS (California Institute of Integral Studies), otherwise I don't think my vast beliefs through cultures as a gay Japanese-American (and other cultures) would've helped me let go of whatever I'm still letting go of, even after all these years (I think my session were back in 2015!).
This place completely wrecked me. I was given a medication by one psychiatrist that completely changed my life. For the first time in years, not only was I sober from drugs but I was actually able to sit down and read a book. I got a job and was so incredibly happy with the positive changes in my life. I had lost all hope and that feeling had disappeared. Sadly, that psychiatrist left the practice and Dr. Harrison took over my prescription. During a check in with him, as soon as I told him how great everything was, he took me off the medication. From there my life fell apart again and during the following months I was consistently told that I wasn't trying hard enough and wasn't being open minded with other treatment options. Why would I be open minded to things that no one was sure would work when I knew something had already produced positive results? Now I can't even bring myself to seek mental health treatment because I don't trust anyone. I'm in a worse place now than when I started with these people. DO NOT GO HERE.
I love this place. They really care about a person's mental help and they show it. I went in as a drop in and was seen within 15 minutes. I felt welcomed and considered about. The intake is 3 parts. I finished the first 2 parts. I answered their second questionnaire in a way which made them concerned so they did an immediate follow-up. I believe this place is great for mental health services for the LBGT community. Stop in before 9 am if you are having mental health issues. The great staff will go out of their way to help you.
A great place with a lot of services and resources to offer and knowledgeable people who are patient and caring, they actually take the time to listen to you to try and help you to the best of their abilities. They’ve definitely provided me with a multitude of services that made navigating “the system” , being hiv +, and my depression easier and made the weight of those things lighter and easier to manage.
A great team of caring individuals who I applaud and greatly appreciate. Many thanks to those who worked hard to build the beautiful facility that I see so much good work and much needed services that Sam Francisco is blessed to offer.
I've been a client at AHP for years and I'm extremely happy there! AHP's team are compassionate and really care for people. I feel really thankful for my Therapist and my Psychiatrist, they're awesome!
Walking into this organizations main entry lobby, you would think that your in a new Start Up office, but no its a non- profit. An excellent one at that. The receptionist was down with the quality customer service. I had no time in the reception area before heading to my appointment. Most non profits are hand me downs when it comes to decor, not this place. Its was warm and inviting.
