From the very first appointment, I felt truly seen and heard by Dr. Xia. He took the time to understand not just my symptoms, but my story, my concerns, and my goals for treatment. Dr Xia is a fantastic psychiatrist. He's helped me immensely with my mental health by prescribing medication and working with me through talk therapy. I've seen psychiatric doctors for over 10 years and Dr Tom Xia is the best doctor I've seen. Two things struck me as different about Dr Xia. 1) He's extremely perceptive during our sessions and seems to understand how I feel before I even understand how I feel 2) Dr Xia also has helped me understand the long term effects of being on medication and helped me make my own decisions about how to proceed. And when things get rough coming off medication (nausea etc), Dr Xia was avail for last minute calls to help me decide what to do to ease the side effects. We all say mental health matters -- but finding the right doctor to support that journey is just as important. I feel really supported and wish everyone could have this level of care too.

If you are looking for a long-term psychiatrist that will really work with you to improve your overall mental health, I cannot recommend Dr Xia enough. I've never felt like he uses a "one-size-fits-all" approach for prescribing medication or treatment plans -- in fact, he's always been sensitive to my concerns and makes sure I'm comfortable with treatment before moving forward with anything. He really creates a safe space where I feel like I can ask questions and be honest. I'm at a point where I only do medication management follow-ups with him now, but I still find myself having breakthroughs and learning more about my mental health with every appointment, thanks to his holistic approach.
