The best. Absolutely. After 30 years of moving and different therapists he is in the top 2. I've been seeing him for 10 years and he has always been professional. I wanted a psychiatrist that could do a full evaluation of my history. Not once have I ever felt he was judgemental or even mildly angry. As a former UCSF employee, I knew I was choosing the best. Plus he owned a pug!

I had a terrible experience. Therapy & medication was much more harmful than helpful. This doctor is creepy, incompetent, struggles with professional boundaries, and had disgusting behavior towards me.  Eventually, I had to fire Dr. Lerner as my doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Lerner for almost a year now and I am very happy with the experience. I appreciate his calm and thoughtful approach, his insights, positive attitude, and actionable takeaways. I trust him and feel I am in great hands.

The patient above who was abandoned and subsequently blacklisted, is now in a wheelchair with an amputated foot due to being unable to get care for even a crushing injury because of what happened as a result of her experience with this 'practice.' *There ~will~ however, actually be a publication at this point. Lerner was my MD for 6+ yrs. 2-3x's a week committed provable felonious Abandonment in 4-2011. He illegally & unethically fired me, taking away critical meds I'd taken 15+ yrs. The Abandonment occurred because my MD's wife discovered my unorthodox questionable, intimately intellectual, proBono & possibly unlawful, though defendable treatment. She was substituting for my MD's practice because he'd had an emergency. Thus when I phoned her-as directed- for refills, she refused, threatened & insulted me, ending by stating she'd 'put me away for life.' I was terrified to ER help & thus endured 4 days of extreme pain, convulsions, potentially lethal seizures leaving permanently physically psychologically further traumatized the already serious MDD-Panic-PTSD diagnoses I'd had since age 11. A representative accompanied me to an ER. Subsequently, I was in a severely unhealthy upon arriving home, I found mail from my MD stating his dismissal without compliance of any kind to the Laws/Ethics of Psychiatry. I was not in a condition interact in any way yet because I'd lived in my home at that time for less than 2 wks. I'd no knowledge that my housemate was previously institutionalized 3+ times & very unstable. She demanded I inform her of she determined that it was necessary to report the events and while I attempted to do so in the condition I was in, she phoned the police alleging I'd stated an explicit threat to kill my MD & his wife. I was immediately removed from home, no police inquiry into the circumstances or history of my housemate. I was forcibly Institutionalization, permanently injured, enduring trauma beyond that which I was already being treated for. Additionally, upon my clearance and release, I was evicted, fired, and ordered to vacate the city. I was forced to relocate and forced to live with my mother. Yet despite having a condition terminal without medication, my SSA was removed, my access to meds denied, my MD (despite an affidavit of my housemate's admission of lying and my quickly worsening health) remains non-compliant.. He was able to officially label me on Public Record as Dangerous and a National Threat, thus robbing me of my PhD 1.5 yrs. away, prevent new employment, insurance, forcing me to receive meds proBo when available & preventing access to any other care. I began a search of over 300+ other medical/legal resources though to no avail. Yet he'd been my best friend, successful despite 12 former MDs failure with me. Nonetheless I am now facing death. I was told that had in 4/11 I'd nearly died gone into coma + suffered a mini stroke, hit early menopause at 36, & AM NOW PARTIALLY PARALYZED IN A WHEELCHAIR, the 2011 CAMB dismissal has FINALLY come to the attention of the SF DA & I'm now in Victim Services after No legal/medical/professional/advocational/org./Disability/ SAMSHA/NAMI/AMA/APA or DC Rep of the Federal District Dept of Patient's Rights would assisted. Now, 3.5 yrs. later, after being awarded a SECOND "Ethics" award and practicing still in SF while I never asked for anything than an xplanation and legal transfer under the law, remain degenerating even faster STILL without a referral, fraudulently devoid of my former PPO via my ex leaving the US, and now without even access to an OBGYN & certainly not the 6 yrs. I needed of major surgery & post op care to avoid life in a chair. I am more than blacklisted. I was condemned to die. Despite 700+ visits, unconditional consistent personal & 24/7 representational care, my death was better to him or whomever he feels loyal to than was the never-before history he was and could still make in his field. In a way, I am no longer angry, confused, sorrowful, or even afraid - I do feel sorry for him though.
