Access Institute for Psychological Services — Mental health service in City and County of San Francisco, CA

I’ve seen a couple of therapists at Access Institute for the past couple years and I’m pleased. Access provides super valuable care on a sliding scale for those in our expensive city who need it. My provider is a trainee therapist, so you should know there is a chance they will leave when their year is done. I wanted to counteract the recent 1-star review - it was actually so useful that I got to know the cost based on my income BEFORE baring my soul to a stranger :-)

I had to use this place 5 years ago when I was unemployed. They were great - therapy and psychiatry. It got me through a tough time. I'm only reviewing it now as someone had asked me where to go.

Very disappointed with the process of trying to start therapy with Access. It took over two weeks and two calls for someone to actually call me back. Rachel, the intake person, was disconnected and started off by stating that MSW students will be providing the therapy which was totally fine with me and upon that information she moved on to payment not why I am seeking therapy or if I was doing ok, she wanted to let me know how much I would pay. Based on my income, she quoted me $60 per session. Maybe the intake staff should be trained how to be more sensitive and mindful of people that are seeking therapy.
