This place changed me all for the better. So much positivity working on self help. I recommend this hospital to everyone. The staff was Amazing understanding non judgemental. Very very pleasant stay there. Meet the person who runs the hospital very understanding and listened. Thank you so much for all that you do.
Food is bad and zero time outside. Also, when meds aren't working, they'll waste a lot of time just keeping them there till insurance runs out and then toss them. Three times my power of attorney papers were submitted for my son and they said they received it. I didn't get a single phone call about treatment plan. I even submitted a very expensive blood test I had my son take to show what meds he can tolerate and they weren't even looked at.
Not being able to go outside is tough but the staff was memorable very appreciative for Maria, Enang, Marylou, Alan few others I can't remember all the names.
I can genuinely not express in words what an indecent, unprofessional, and non-productive environment this facility and its “professionals” provide from the front desk all the way up until the top either dont care or just dont know what their doing the amount of questions i asked the staff about the care of my love one and was answered “I dont know” is absurd. If you or your loved one are coming here god be with you. The automatically generated response doesnt get me anywhere when you dont answer the phone. As of now theirs nothing you could do to change this its been over a week of super poor care no phone call in the last day or 2 will make up for that.
My experience at this mental hospital was mixed. I want to start by acknowledging Maria, Dina, and Marylou, who were absolutely amazing. They attended to our needs with kindness and compassion and did the best they could with what they had. I truly appreciate their effort and heart — they’re the reason I’m giving this place 2 stars instead of 0. Pros: • The staff members I mentioned (Maria, Dina, and Marylou) were wonderful. • Mary was also great and always tried to help whenever she could. • The food wasn’t great during my stay, but I believe the kitchen is working again, which is good news. Cons: • There was no outside time at all. Some patients, including one who had been there for four months, hadn’t been outside once. • While you could see outside, you couldn’t go out or even hear the outside world — which becomes mentally draining over time. • The hygiene and well-being of some patients were concerning and could use more attention. • Most of the group sessions weren’t very helpful, except one run by a newer staff member (it was her third week when I arrived on September 25th). Overall, I’m thankful for the kindness of the staff members mentioned, but the facility itself needs serious improvement — especially regarding patient care, hygiene, and access to fresh air or outdoor time.
There was a nurse and her helper that terrorized us at night. Banging, knocking on doors, jiggling handles, thinking it's funny. They were both from the Congo (I asked). July 29th 11pm on and it was ridiculous. I said something and they tried to put it on us. 1 woman took her bed and slept in the "quiet room" to have peace. After I complained 2 women came to our door and pushed it open. The review where they say that they caused situations to get a rise out of you, is true. I went there for med stabilization, that was it. It was disgusting how we were treated. Maria and Alejandra were wonderful, Tish was confrontational. The review about the food they also aren't lying. A patient (male) was banging at the door to get out. I stood at my door incase he tried anything. He was charging the door, crazy, and they let him stay. I asked about our safety, they blew me off. As other's have said take your love ones elsewhere. Check surveillance for date and time I said.
Professional, compassionate, and accommodating psychiatrists and nurses. Skilled, wise, and helpful activity and processing group facilitators. The hospital itself is dirty, with outdated interior and carpeting. Food is not the best, but it is not bad. Social workers are knowledgeable and kind, but they are spread thin. Met the CEO, who seems like a good intentioned man, but how well-equipped and ready he is to enact changes and allocate funding for obvious changes and upgrades to the hospital is unknown. The non-psychiatry medical doctors here are extremely rude, disrespectful, and neglectful. The director of nursing is an unprofessional bully. The BHPPs are friendly, uplifting, hardworking, and professional.
My son, who has severe mental health issues, spent about one week at this facility. Social worker seemed very kind and helpful. However, at the time of his discharge, the individual in charge of releasing the patients belongings allowed another patient to take my son's bag without verifying who it belonged to ..his EBT card, ID and health insurance card, as well as a few dollars. Apparently they later realized what happened, but not before this other individual disposed of my son's belongings. Let's get this straight...you work at a facility where you know people have severe issues, and you don't safeguard their belongings? WOW. His social worker was apologetic, but that does nothing to help a situation that should never been allowed to happen in the first place! Complete negligence and lack of accountability!. I should hope this staff member was fired, but maybe he or she is now running the place. Never received a follow up call from Admin or any apologies from those in charge. Pathetic.
The staff purposely will aggravate the patients to get a rise out of them. When no leadership is around they will openly talk about bullying the patients. Rules are enforced depending on if they like you or not. I found dirt in my lettuce during multiple meals. Even without the dirt the food is disgusting. Food is always the first place they will cut corners and I honestly doubt they could cut back anymore. There were violent patients that were left to assault other patients and staff. If you have a choice DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE SENT HERE.
My mother has an SMI and needed voluntary admission to help stabilize her illness. The hospital has 24/7 intakes and admitted my mother. I spoke to my mother multiple times on the phone and asked if it was clean and she said it was very clean. I also asked her how she was being treated and her response was that she was being treated with dignity and respect. She was the happiest she had been in a really long time. If you or a family member are in a crisis I would highly recommend Haven. I had reservations because of the other negative reviews but you have to keep in mind that most people who write reviews are the ones who are unhappy. I am hopeful that my review will help another family like mine find a temporary but safe place for their family member.
