Well I came here under my free will but after going thru the therapy program I found out some people don't care when it comes to the patient therapy issues. I doubt I'll ever use a therapist again
I filed an emergent petition for a relative in Arizona due to serious risks, but the evaluation was delayed by over 41 hours. I received no updates until a staff member named Nick called asking for my "updates," which was confusing and unrelated to my concerns. When I visited Connections, AZ to file a new petition, the front desk staff, a woman in her 40s with an average build and dark hair, became confrontational after I expressed my request. She quickly called in a supervisor, Deej Walther, who appeared with an intense scowl and aggressive demeanor. Deej, who did not identify herself as directly caring for the patient, displayed theatrical hand gestures and condescension throughout our interaction while mocking my profession as a psychiatrist. Her behavior was unprovoked and alarming, as she suggested that my concerns were unwarranted and implied that the patient might be discharged without a proper evaluation. She states that per title 36, patient under Emergent Petition has unlimited time to be evaluated and may not need to be evaluated at all, as she spit out some irrelevant statements that she proclaims to be under title 36. I read title 36, and I am not finding any consistent information to her claims. This level of aggression and lack of professionalism raises serious doubts about the team's ability to handle such cases responsibly, endangering both the patient and public safety. A report has been made against this individual DW to ADHS.
These are amazing people who actually love what they do, it's obvious in how they treat everyone who comes through those mirror doors. I've been helped by their amazing staff more time then I can remember. They also have a " after hours" service door. I highly recommend going to get mental help there. πβ€οΈ
I personally went in for an emotional breakdown and if you have any family there my only advice is save them absolutely everything the social workers say and do is a huge lie they are cruel emotionally unstable they are power hungry they will do anything possible to keep everyone in there long as possible to get more money out of the patients they do not give you therapy except when they let you pick out a song that everyone has to listen to thatβs the only way they claim to help they lie making if worse for patients and if you try to talk to them they use it as an excuse to acuse the patients of misbehaving to keep you longer they are rude heartless cruel is is a torture and the workers here are not to be trusted by any means
Do not come here if you're in crisis. They closed their lobby to observe a drinking holiday. This is why so many people kill themselves. When in crisis, the goal posts will keep moving and moving until we give up Thanks for making this decision much much easier
I strongly advise against leaving your loved ones at Connections AZ/UPC. My experience there was deeply distressing and marked by significant neglect and mistreatment. 1. Poor Medical Care: Despite severe pain, I was denied prescribed medication by a nurse who dismissed my needs. This lack of proper medical care and compassion was consistent throughout my stay. 2. Racial Discrimination: I witnessed a deeply troubling incident where a young Black patient was restrained and injected due to mistaken identity. This highlighted a disturbing level of racial insensitivity and discrimination. 3. Violation of Patient Rights: Repeated requests for my medical records and involvement in my treatment plan were ignored. Patient rights materials were not accessible, violating my right to informed consent and active participation in my own care. 4. Dehumanizing Treatment: Upon release, I was taken to the lobby in paper clothing despite having my own clothes available. This degrading treatment was part of a broader pattern of disrespect and neglect. 5. Unsafe and Unsanitary Conditions: The facility was unclean and poorly maintained. Basic hygiene and safety protocols were neglected, creating an unsafe environment for all patients. 6. Emotional and Psychological Harm: The overall environment was oppressive, contributing to feelings of hopelessness and despair. The neglect and mistreatment took a significant emotional and psychological toll. Overall, Connections AZ/UPC failed to provide the compassionate and respectful care that patients deserve. The facility's practices and environment are far from acceptable, and no one should have to endure the trauma I experienced there. Please consider other options for your loved ones' mental health care.
Staff is horrible, making fun of people who are mentally ill. They will mock you. They will treat you like dirt. A few of them definitely care. Most of them don't. It's honestly sad. I was here for a few days before I went somewhere else where they respected me and cared for me. I was fine after a week at the new place vs my week at Connections. I was given drugs that made me tweak out. They wouldn't listen to me. Screw this place. They should not be allowed to work with patients.
I stopped in less than 24 hours of coming to Arizona. The nurse who took my temperature did a little too much but made amends soon after. I went to get a formal diagnosis for one issue but did not get that resolved. I put my stuff in a locker and headed to the back to speak with the appropriate individuals and when I got done my name had been written on the locker instead of giving me the code to retrieve my stuff for myself. The doctor did his job, however what I was prescribed does not pertain to what I went in for. I was given additional assistance in terms of locating a place to stay, which I am grateful for, however, I am just now even being comfortable discussing my own mental health issues and with everything that happened I don't feel as if I was truly treated fairly. I believe I am to have a follow up, but I am skeptical at this point.
Awful. No therapeutic care! This place was poorly ran and you had a lot of doctors and nurses who acted like they didnβt care or were inconvenienced by asking questions. I can in after a recent suicide attempt just for medications and they recommended I stay and the doctor told me thereβs be therapists and social workers who are there to talk to me and make me feel welcome and help me process my feelings. THAT WAS A LIE! You can show no negative emotion without being threatened to be petitioned and you canβt even get upset without threatening to get petitioned. Honestly worst psychiatric place in my life! I was there volountarily and when I discussed wanting to leave they made it seem like that wasnβt an option. No one cared about my complaints. Very rude and uncaring staff. Some staff there seemed very power hungry and seemed to enjoy intimidating and belittling patients in front of other patients. Iβd rather have been in jail
I had the worst experience and never felt so humiliated and not taken serious. I went in because have bad anxiety and paranoia. While I was in their care I was not able to get any medications till 9pm rx time for patients. So I had to deal with anxiety all day. I got to see a doctor and he advice to change my anxiety pills due it was not working. I told him I feel I made a mistake by coming in to get help because I was suffering from anxiety all day in their care. Also when I was released I realized I didn't have a script so I went next door to see my psychiatrist to make sure I am taking the right medications..... That is when it got worst when I was treated like I was a drug addict. Was told there was nothing they can do. It did not seem right to me. I asked questions and they couldn't answer but to tell me I had to step out of their lobby. That hurt.... I walked out crying because they didn't take their time to listen to my concern. I called out to then on my phone when someone finally listened and asked the doctor why... He wanted me to take the same medications. Same doctor that told me I should try something else for anxiety. And that could of been better info then nothing. I am really disappointed because I like my psychiatrist there and I listened to her recommendation to stay there. Worst days ever..... :(
