COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH THIS "PSYCHOLOGIST." RECORD EVERY CONVERSATION YOU AND OTHERS HAVE WITH HIM, AS HE WILL TRY TO MAKE UP INFORMATION LATER. RECORD EVERYTHING TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS THAT HAVE INTERACTION WITH HIM. He will take thousands of dollars from you with no regrets for providing little service - and none that is, overall, beneficial. I agree with others in that I would give zero stars for a review about him, if allowed. He failed to provide details of any specific protocols, procedures, or goals before, during, and after treatment. He lacks basic communication skills. He ended our appointment with no feedback on what to expect at another appointment or if there even would be another appointment. Like others have done, I have filed a complaint about him with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

If there were an option for zero stars, I would have hit it. Formal complaint with state now filed. This man actually ignored police reports and insisted that my son have unfettered access to illegal drugs and alcohol. Overstepped his legal role by declaring reunification therapy successful knowing the facts with undeniable evidence. He and his “staff” openly and repeatedly discriminated against me in violation of the ADA even after agreeing to make reasonable accusations, and then refused to do so. He refused to communicate with me in any regard, but emailed my attorney with recommendations that I be primary. I objected to him overstepping his role and the retaliation began. He actually accused a partially paralyzed disabled veteran of threatening him with violence and withdrew from the case without ever releasing a report. The only threat I made was to file a formal complaint and hold him accountable. So not only do I have the first copy of the partial report, but also his retaliatory testimony on the record, the emails, the total disagreement from the reunification therapist, and every call he makes is recorded through his software and transcribed into the records. 2 years later (yes it took that long) he shows up to testify against me in court doubling down on his accusations and retaliation. This man is a coward and a liar. He came to our case saying we needed to pay him to redo our evaluation ($4000 per party)because the previous evaluator did not follow the legal process. He then proceeded to take more than a month’s of my disability income to not follow the process himself and keep our money. At least I have it all on record and it had no effect on my case other than to be obvious enough that it is exactly as I said. Do what I did FILE THE FORMAL COMPLAINT. This guy seems to have quite a track record of this and he needs to be held accountable. If any lawyers want to take this case, I’m looking to speak to an attorney for sure

To anyone considering this ''doctor'' DO NOT. Read all the reviews and I had all these same problems happen to me. This ''team''' only responded when I got direct and pissed. NEVER called any of the 12+ references, exwife, older daughter, nor did he consider a summary judgement by a councilor who stated clearly that there was child alienation and child abuse on the mothers part. When I learned my daughter was self-harming and contacted their office I got NO response

I paid over $12,000 for a child custody evaluation, only to realize that this evaluator prioritizes court connections and attorney relationships over truly assessing the family's best interests. Once you're under contract, the concern for fairness and thoroughness disappears. The final report lacked any meaningful long-term recommendations, contradicted his own psychological testing results, and raised serious concerns about his professionalism. His office seems to operate as a revolving door for young professionals, and he himself has no personal experience raising children full-time or being married. Rather than conducting a balanced, well-reasoned evaluation, he appears to be another court-appointed opportunist focused on financial gain. As a result of his flawed assessment, I am now stuck with a facilitator, adding further costs and complications. This individual is more interested in draining family resources than helping resolve custody matters fairly. If you are seeking a custody evaluation that genuinely prioritizes your children’s well-being, I strongly advise looking elsewhere.

What a pathetic excuse for a medical professional who only gets paid when the court mandates it. God be with you if you’re unfortunate enough to be forced to speak with this excuse for a human being. He should not be allowed to practice or insinuate a diagnosis based on a visit that revolves around a stressful situation, which is court. He is biased, sexist and a lot of other adjectives that I don’t care to describe. He’s not worth the time or money and I urge you to request (if you can) a different doctor to work with. A diagnosis is something that BOTH patient and doctor ageee upon. He needs to be careful about the descriptors he uses for people he’s met for two days on a mandated court order.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was referred to Dr. Theis by the mediator. I wish I had an option to pick a different psychiatrist, looking at Dr. Theis reviews gave me a very bad feeling, and it was true! I was going through a very difficult divorce with my ex husband. My ex is an extreme narcissist, con artist, drug addict, abusive, can't hold down a job, has really bad mental issues. I sent my evidence that he's unstable as a parent. I sent videos, pictures and audio recordings but I highly doubt Dr. Theis viewed or heard any of it. My ex ultimately lied and knows how to be a good actor and Dr. Theis supposed to be a professional but failed to detect he was talking to a narcissist right in front of him. My ex kidnapped my kids in the past withhold my kids from me out of spite because I filed for divorce. He hears voices in his head and thinks the FBI is out to get him, my children are not safe with this man and Dr. Theis did nothing to protect my kids. If my kids get kidnapped or hurt by my ex husband, he'll be sorry and hope he realizes his mistake. My ex should not have unsupervised visits, he's not allowed to be around his ex girlfriend's kids but why does he have to be unsupervised with mine? The system failed me. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Theis, he just doesn't care to protect your children.

Believe the reviews! Dr. Theis does not read or review any documents you send his office or complete online. Save your $4,000 and just go to court. His decisions are not in the best interest of a child when the other parent literally beats on your door and the incident went without reprimand. As divorce goes, one can imagine how things have escalated after the review awarding 50/50 custody. Fabulous job Dr. Theis! As what rolls into the parents life spills into my sons life. I'm beyond disappointed with the fact that after contacting his office I was told to go to coparenting counseling with a coparent who is refusing to do so and was even called "angry" in his report.

This individual was one sided from the start. His irresponsible decisions put my son in harms way. The bias report he typed up sent my son to the other parents home which the judge had to remove him from immediately. Due to a very saddening and unfortunate life changing event. I understand that it is tough going through these custody situations and making decisions. That one parent will always be upset with the decisions made. But the other comments on here speak truth like no other. I was given extended standard custody and was judged like none other by Dr. Richard Theis. My opinion meant nothing and his mind was made up from the get go. My son was sent with the other parent being selected as primary per the findings/suggestions of Dr. Theis. After less than one year of this arrangement there was an unfortunate yet disturbing event that took place during the primary parents time. That event almost took the life of my son. My son was immediately removed from the home and placed in my primary custody. After countless hours of true! Therapy and counseling my son is happy again. We are all doing great and are one truly big happy family! The biased decisions this man made from the get go almost lost myself and my family the life of my son. I will never forgive or forget this. I strongly urge anyone to truly read all these comments and take them into consideration before you make any decisions regarding Dr. Richard Theis and his services. The comments are on here for a good reason.

I just recently finished my Child Custody Evaluation and while reading these reviews, Im completely taken aback by the anger in them. If half of these people took the time to read their paperwork and listen to staff while there they would understand how this process goes. I understood from beginning to end that myself and my ex-husband would be completing the same amount of paperwork, same time with Dr. Theis and anything else they asked of us both. I dont believe that anything submitted against me or anything I submitted against my ex-husband to be construed or twisted. Dr. Theis was intimidating but I did learn many things through-out this process that eventually would be for the best of my children. Its unfortunate that there are many unsatisfactory reviews, dont let that stop you from choosing Dr. Theis as a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL, he is doing his job. My self and ex-husband were pleased with the results, we can say honestly.

Dr. Theis appeared uninterested in each session. He did not listen and did not repeat the information from the session back accurately, thus proving he was not listening. What he determined as normal parent / child behavior, the real therapist my child's doctor sent him to called emotional abuse. We went to him hoping to find a way to get the other house to see how their behavior was negatively impacting the child. Instead he rallied around them and excused all behavior. He went so far as to blame the stepmom for all the environment in the mother and step father's home. According to the child, he outright attacked the stepmom in his individual session. Had Dr. Theis paid attention, he would have known that the child is a stepmama's boy and he lost all credibility with the child in that moment. The child indicated he had considered hurting himself and Dr. Theis insisted that he not be allowed to attend sessions with a therapist. Thankfully, all 4 parents went with his actual doctor's recommendation and had him attend therapy. There it was determined the issues with the other house environment were valid issues. The therapist worked with everyone and we were able to get him back to a happy child. Dr. Theis should be ashamed of himself for not helping the families that come to him. He very clearly does not care about the children and only about the paycheck. We were able to fix the situation on our own using other professionals with him actually working against us!
