I came to Richard three years ago during a difficult time. His compassionate ear and openness have helped me heal and develop deeper, more meaningful relationships with family and friends. I would highly recommend Richard to anyone looking to improve their life through therapy.
Richard is an exceptional therapist, LPC-supervisor, mentor, and such a wealth of knowledge! I am incredibly grateful for his mentorship and highly recommend him as a therapist and for anyone looking for an LPC-S! He also provides workshops for therapists! I continue to consult with him even after graduating as an LPC.
I’ve been working with Richard for about two and a half years now and couldn’t be more pleased with my progress. Prior to seeing him, I struggled to make sense of my emotions, was very reactive, and I had NO idea how to slow down and be present. I truly feel like a whole new woman these days, no longer just reacting to the opinions or actions of those around me. For the first time in my life, I feel in control and in sync with who I am, and I owe that to Richard. Highly, highly recommend.
I spent over a year with Richard, seeing him twice a week for many months. He helped me combat addiction, anxiety, aggression and depression. In under a month, Richard had taught me life changing coping skills to anxiety that I’ve carried with me and even taught to many friends. He helped me become aware and open about what I was struggling with on the deepest level. I cannot recommend him enough, especially for men struggling to manage the work load of college/career, relationships and early adulthood.
I’ve been seeing Richard for over 2 years now and it has completely changed my life. As a result, my marriage has gotten back on track and I’ve learned to manage what was once uncontrollable anxiety. He is non-judgmental, easy to talk to, and has a deep knowledge of how the brain works. Best of all, he is relatable and doesn’t talk down to you or “diagnose” you with a useless label. I have recommended him to a number of people that I care for deeply and he has helped all of them through very difficult times. His approach to therapy really makes you feel like someone is in your corner. Even during our first phone consultation, (which was free and much longer than I expected) he gave me the feeling that if I committed to the work, I would heal and reimagine my life. Seeing him that week was the best decision I’ve made and probably saved my life. There are still times in my life when I feel severe turbulence or fear, but now I use the tools and information Richard has shared with me to get myself out of a downward spiral. I can attest the same has been true for my friends who have seen him as well. For anyone who is seeking help for the first time or even if you’ve been in and out of different programs, I highly recommend that you reach out to Richard
Ten out of ten, do not recommend. I saw this guy for a number of years, and he never could keep us on track. He'll waste a ton of your time telling you about his failed acting career, how his wife is on the Asperger's spectrum, how his daughter is getting her period, etc. That would be fine if you're friends, but I don't need to pay for a therapist to be my friend. I was there to do work and get better. I even pointed the same out to him in email, and he just can't stay focused on his job. The guy is so into himself that he really doesn't pay attention to what you tell him. At one point, he told me that I had quit jobs without ever having a backup job. That's just so beyond anything I'd ever do no matter how upset I was at the time, so it made me really wonder, "has this guy been listening to a word that's come out of my mouth." Best of luck if you see him. He's really desperate to act like he is your friend, and as a result, you're not gonna get much quality therapy work done.
