For two years, I drove from Arlington to Dallas to attend LPC-I supervision with Amera and it was definitely worth the frustrations of the horrible traffic on I30. Not only did Amera provide excellent training and education, but she genuinely believed in my abilities as a therapist. Amera is a clinically sound and approachable individual. Amera helped me to think outside the box and to develop my own therapeutic approach, she challenged me in ways that helped me flourish and grow into my role at the hospital where I work, and she facilitated my insight regarding hurdles I needed to overcome. I highly recommend Amera for your supervision needs.

I had Amera as a supervisor while working towards my LPC intern hours, and she is WONDERFUL. She is very easy to talk with, offers great advice and very useful recommendations for therapy. She is flexible with her schedule to accommodate when life happens and supervision needs to be rescheduled. Amera was very open about her experience and provided me with very useful techniques and activities to use in session with adults and children. Amera was my practicum supervisor for two semesters. I learned so much from her and grew as a therapist. She has experience in multiple counseling settings and offers interns a wealth of knowledge and guidance. She is very aware of cultural issues that clients face and of issues the therapist may face as he or she matures as a therapist. Amera challenges you to find the best course of action for your client and to understand various theoretical orientations in regards to certain cases. Amera was my Practicum supervisor during my counseling graduate program at DTS. She was a great supervisor overall. I had little background in counseling and she encouraged me to ask questions, try different methods, and trained with patience. She was very personable, knowledgeable, and compassionate. She went above and beyond and even interviewed for a class presentation that I had regarding "Counseling Considerations for Arab Americans." Amera was my supervisor during my master’s program. It was a great experience and one that continues to shape my career today. I appreciated that she took supervision seriously, was respectful of scheduled times, took the time to block out distractions, and was consistent in feedback. She was always receptive to my ideas and opinions but provided firm guidance when needed. I grew as a therapist working with Amera and frequently find myself looking back to the discussions we had. She was easy to work with and is someone I know I will continually look to for advice as I continue to learn and work.

Amera is an excellent supervisor. She honors her interns' supervision time, understanding that it is a critical component of professional development. She encourages you to stretch yourself, yet also points out your strengths. Her perceptiveness allows her to recognize each individual's contribution to the team. Amera encourages interns to employ creative interventions and provides support when trying new experiences. She is very knowledgable, yet looks at each coworker (interns included) as a source of learning, too. She possesses an abundant knowledge of multicultural, immigrant, and domestic violence issues. It is clear in working with Amera that her priority is the well-being of her clients, and her sensitivity towards this end is naturally absorbed and mirrored by those with whom she works.

Amera supervised me when I interned at Mosaic Family Services in Dallas. She was a very effective supervisor and her multicultural expertise was very helpful for my graduate level training. Amera understands the complexities of cultural values and how to counsel clients with these values in mind. Domestic violence is another area that Amera has extensive knowledge of; particularly, how domestic violence originates and functions. I appreciated how she asked me hard questions about my counseling techniques and explored my counter-transference experiences with clients. Amera organized and led group supervision meetings at Mosaic, which were invaluable for case conceptualization. It was apparent that she truly cares about those she supervises. I am very pleased with my experience with Amera as my supervisor.
