Live Oak Counseling Center — Mental health clinic in Dallas, TX

Front office is rude. Jessica the NP is absolutely horrible. She threw multiple medicines my way with no care of how they effected me. I was prescribed over nine medicines and never was listened to by her. I was denied by her my FMLA paperwork and when I saw other Drs there because she was unavailable, I was told I could not see any other dr in the practice. I called weekly with issues to be told I had to learn to live with my illnesses. ZERO STARS

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this office. I had an appointment that was confirmed with me ahead of time, and I even took off work and drove an hour and a half to be seen. After all of that effort, I arrived only to be told I didn’t have an appointment. There was no prior notice, no apology that felt genuine, and no real effort to accommodate the situation they put me in. This was not just an inconvenience — it was a serious waste of time, money, and emotional energy. For a mental health office, I expected much more consideration and professionalism. Communication and respect for patients’ time should be a priority. I truly hope they improve their scheduling practices and communication so others don’t have to go through the same experience.

I had a bad experience with live oak counseling. My appointment was with Kimberly Thompson, a nurse practitioner, and after waiting for 40 mins past my appointment time, Kimberly was not only unapologetic, but very dismissive, and quite arrogant towards me. I was so upset after my appointment and called to let someone know how I’d been treated and a lady I spoke to took my message and I never heard back. This was back a few months ago. I recently found a great match through psychology today, which I highly recommend. good luck out there people!

I have been going to this office since the other location. Dr. Fenton got super busy so I started seeing Crystal. That is when everything changed. When you are in charge of someone’s Mental Illness you should take it more seriously. There has been times when she hasn’t sent over my prescription after an appointment and I had to get loner pills until the next business day. I feel at this point it’s all about the money.. I’m Very Disappointed in Crystal. When you say reach out after a medication switch you should try answering your messages… I’m not being hospitalized because you’re not doing your job.

I have been a patient of Crystal for over 5 years. I can't say enough about the help she has provided me. Crystal is intelligent, patient, kind, understanding and flexible. She listens to me and she provides helpful and effective methods. I highly recommend Crystal and Live Oak Counseling as a source of emotional support.

I have been coming to this practice for a little over 3 years & have had very few issues. Also, i've changed jobs multiple times & my insurance has continued to be accepted here, which has been a huge relief. I see Kim Thompson, & I could not recommend her more. She is so efficient, direct, and a great listener. 11/10 has made my life better!

I have been going to this practice for 7 years and have always had an excellent experience. Simon is a very knowledgable and compassionate Psychiatrist, Karen has a life time of experience in therapy and a ton of patience, tools, and generosity of spirit. And in all of my years, the support staff have been nothing but extremely kind and efficient with RX refills, appointment reminders, etc. They even call you to let you know the Dr got your message or that a RX has been sent in. In all these years they have been very good to me and I believe that I have received the best care.

I am super surprised at all these reviews saying negative things about Patrick at the front desk. He is incredibly kind and helpful, and I have never had an issue with him. He is extremely competent and always greets me with a smile. And I also have nothing bad to say about Jessica Denney. She is a great listener, never rushes me, and is very knowledgeable. I recommend this practice to anyone looking for a good psychiatrist. The only reason I removed a star is because the office staff that fills in for Patrick when he's out can be a little difficult to deal with because they don't know as much about what's going on.

I recommend Simon Ordonez but the front office staff is rude. Arrived for my appointment and they have the glass drawn with a request that we don’t get there attention. When they decide to address you, they’re condescending. Their attitude is a consistent experience, I do not recommend.

I am very bad about giving out reviews, but felt motivated to do so now. I have been a patient here for a few years now and I see Simon. He is great, and the couple times I have seen Crystal, she was great too! When I first went, there were 2 lovely receptionist. I believe there has been change in one of the receptionists as I can only recognize Patrick. I have talked to the other one a couple of times so I assume there has been a change. Anyways, Patrick has always been friendly, personable, and efficient! Deserves a raise! I only decreased a star because the times I talked to one of the other receptionists, it left a bad taste in my mouth. (Mind you, I have a high tolerance for people and am very friendly, even to those that aren't always the nicest). Keep up the good work Live Oak! Thank you for always being caring!
