WOW - Care is professional, reliable, on-time and the family loves our care partners Sandy & Cathy. Taking mom to church, out with friends and Cathy is now part of the best friends group. She is also a terrific cook. The CEO lives down the street and is always available for a phone call and a visit. Cura loves clients and clients love CURA FOR CARE!
Our family members, L & N recently moved closer to us so we could look after them better. They live in an independent living apartment in a building that includes assisted living and memory care. It was incredibly important to them that they retain their independence. N was struggling with ambulation and L was afraid to leave him alone at all so they spent every moment together. N had a nasty fall followed by a 1 week hospital admission including a few nights in the ICU and then a transfer to a rehab hospital for an additional 2 weeks. L verbalized that she was unable to take care of him in his current state. We have known Moises Paz for years in a non-professional role and we trust him so we called him to inquire about Cura for Care. Moises and a care provider from CFC met us at the rehab hospital prior to N’s discharge, watched N work with his therapists and assessed the level of care he needed at that time. Moises had helpful advice, like having the rehab hospital order the durable medical equipment that was covered by Medicare, while N was still in the rehab hospital. It was much easier to do then than to play phone tag for days. He advised us to discuss which shower chair to get with the OT and which briefs N was using in the rehab hospital so I could order the same things at home before N arrived back home. Moises did a safety assessment of their apartment while N was still in the hospital. He advised us to raise the head of the bed, change out their very tall boxspring for a very short one and to get a bedrail. In fact, he helped install the bedrail when I wasn’t able to figure it out. Those changes made big impacts on reducing some of L and N’s challenges. The day of discharge we had to pick N up at the rehab hospital and drive him to VUMC for a long awaited appointment with a very difficult to get into specialist. Moises lent us a transport wheelchair which was a life saver! He let us use that for several days, until the one I ordered arrived. By the time we finished with the discharge and the specialist visit, we were all exhausted! Moises was waiting for us at the apartment lobby and came out and got N out of the car and into the wheelchair while I parked the car. I never had to leave N alone at all. Moises helped us get N settled in the apartment after being gone for 3 weeks and coming back with more challenges than when he was last home. Moises worked with L to make sure she was comfortable with all of the new changes to the apartment and to their new reality. He was very careful not to step on her toes! At first, CFC provided round the clock care which was incredibly helpful because my husband and I both got very sick while N was in the hospital and we were absolutely exhausted and 3 weeks behind with work. CFC took care of L&N for several days until we all determined that they could gradually space out the care visits more and more. Now that L & N are settled into their new routine, CFC comes a few times a week for a few hours so that L can go to pick up groceries, run errands and also go to a wellness class specifically fit for her needs. It is a night and day difference for L because she doesn’t have to worry that N is not looked after while she looks after herself for a little while. My husband and I couldn’t feel any more gratitude to Moises and CFC for looking after my husband’s parents and giving them a little bit of healthy space from each other. I don’t know what we would do without CFC!
