I had a blast my 3 month Mrs hopper Mrs Ashley mr Andre the best there
Serenity Recovery is a wonderful place, I am so very grateful to the good people here. I cant say enough good things about them. 5 stars
Serenity Recovery is the worse. Food ridiculous, staff are not professional, the building need a lot of cleaning attention , the clients was made to sit in chairs for 12-15 hours a day. My boyfriend was there for 28 days and stated CAPPS WAS WAY BETTER PLACE THAN SERENITY! The counselors even falsely accuse the clients of certain situations that’s not true. The only way to get help is to want help yourself because you want be getting help from this facility ..
Just like every other treatment facility. It is what you make of it. With that being said... They have unqualified counselors who are racist and rude. Treatment doesn't get people sober. Treatment doesn't keep people sober. I've been a patient 3 separate times and was treated horribly. Basically I sat around for 30 days with little to no therapy. The female clients are stuck basically in one room for over 8hrs every single day, The only positive things I can say are that the food is good and it's better than being in jail... I guess
I went here several years ago and this place changed my life and probably saved my life. Been clean ever since. I had to write a review after reading all the bad reviews. Which most I think are just people who didn't get their way, or people who don't like following rules. When I first went here, I was court ordered and didn't want to be there. But as soon as I arrived I felt a sense of peace, and I felt welcome. I learned a lot here, about myself, and learned how to deal with life on life's terms. The counselor I had years ago, Miss Brenda, is still there and she was amazing. And, the food there was amazing too! I was under weight when I got there, and gained almost 40 pounds in a month and a half!! Like any rehab facility, it's only going to work if you really want it to work. You have to be open to change, and let the people here teach you. There are rules, and the first 7 days is a blackout. So no phone calls for that first week. I ended up staying here for 6 weeks and I am forever grateful to Serenity. I hope I would never need their services again, but if I did, I would go back there in a heartbeat! And I would highly recommend Serenity to anyone who needs treatment. Remember, it works if you want it to. And if you are really ready to change your way of life. Go in with an open mind, and a willingness to change and learn. Like I said, I am FOREVER grateful to Serenity!!
All these comments saying, "they shouldn't have to cater to your loved ones needs"! In detox?...probably one of the darkest times of these peoples lives they want to play tough love? Nah. I'm not down with it because they are certainly CHARGING like they're a 5 star hotel and are "catering" to the patients. And by catering I mean treating them like they have been admitted into a hospital and need cared medical attention. Don't go here. Terrible reviews. And terrible excuses for the staff's behavior.
Please Read: I do not recommend anyone to choose Serenity! Please consider all of your options as Serenity only gives you busy work to do, instead of truly working on underlying issues. My experience with them was not only a nightmare, but SEVERAL clients that go there have left due to the staffs disrespectful attitude, & the way that they treat you. You go all day without being able to do simple things, such as have a cup of water. The only time you get a cup to drink out of is during meals. Otherwise, you have to drink out of a water fountain and with the pandemic.. it’s highly unsafe. They say practice social distancing when the clients are outside smoking so that they can’t get together and talk about how they are treated. Yet, when it’s time for group they pack you in one group room like sardines. I had to go to the hospital during my stay, the hospital called them to let them know I was being discharged, yet it took 3 1/2 hours standing outside in the heat for Serenity to pick me up. The staff claimed they weren’t contacted, when a staff member had violated the HIPPA laws and reported to other clients that the hospital called and I was being discharged. They have literally dropped off clients at the hospital, and knew that they weren’t staffed enough to pick those said clients up, and those clients literally had to walk from the hospital back to rehab. I know a treatment center is obviously not supposed to be a cake walk, however they are very mean to clients. They will drop medication on the floor, yet still expect you to take the medication that was on the floor! The counselors do not spend time with you like they should, and instead give you “busy work,” to keep you out of their hair. They knew that I reported to my husband on my nightly calls the things they were doing, so they started listening in on my phone calls to make sure that I wouldn’t disclose certain information to my husband. They in fact told me not to tell him certain things or I would end up on a behavioral contract. They are way overpopulated by clients, understaffed where clients don’t get the appropriate attention or care that they need in order to get sober. The counselors have a disgusting attitude and will tell your loved ones whatever they want to hear regarding your treatment. They never take responsibility for anything. Their vivotrol shot literally sent me to the hospital. This time, they insisted my husband take me since they left me at the hospital the first time around. The doctors said to stay on bed rest for two days due to an allergic reaction. However, the next day they made me get out of bed regardless of what medical professionals insisted. Even if you tell the higher ups, because you are an “addict or alcoholic,” they will obviously take whatever the staff claims at face value. Notice most good reviews are from the family of loved ones, not usually people that experience it themselves. Also, if they did experience it the excuse they have is treatment isn’t supposed to be someone catering to you. Serenity’s website is not only misleading but it’s false advertisement. This is not only a 28 day program. They can keep you as long as they see fit. Some I’ve seen have to stay several months. If you EVER want to seek out help, go to IAC in Bartlett. They are amazing! You aren’t treated differently because of your addiction, and they would never talk down to you like Serenitys staff will. Please, Please take all of the bad reviews into consideration before you are a loved one goes to this treatment facility. People are leaving there all of the time and dying!! They claim to be the best in Memphis, but I promise you, find other options! Brenda and Molly are the counselors for women there, and they have awful attitudes, the Psychologist was a meth addict and isn’t even allowed to write prescription medication. He also claimed that I didn’t have ADHD but it was then confirmed by several people that not only did I have it, but that’s probably one of the main reasons I behaved certain ways my whole life. Disgusting Program 👎🏼
I could NOT disagree with most of these reviews anymore than I already do. This facility takes people with addiction issues that may not have the resources to get the help they so desperately need. That in itself is a blessing! I am grateful for Serenity and the people who dedicate their lives to serving others. Because of it my loved one is getting the care he needs to overcome his addiction and he is getting a 2nd chance at life. Every one I have interacted with has been extremely helpful and supportive. We are blessed to have such a facility in this area. Thanks Serenity for all you do!
Look all these families need to chill out on this place. No one is fixing to hold you or your loved ones hand through this process. I was a client here and Iv been in the administrator and reception office when phones are ringing off the hook with ridiculous request of things they can bring to their loved ones. The rules are the rules. They're masterminds at spotting manipulation, and your loved ones are masterminds at manipulation. So regardless of what their saying they need, it may not be appropriate. Now, if you want your life saved go here and if you want to help your loved one save their life send them here. But either way they do their job to the fullest, it kills me reading all these reviews that say basically" omg they didn't roll over and cater to mine or my loved ones needs, and they didn't sugar coat the seriousness it takes to get clean." Please. They're there to save lives not be your bestie. This place is amazing and this is coming from someone who got kicked out because of my own selfish choices but guess what I still haven't used and now I'm going on 3 years clean. Thank you Serenity. P.S. THE FOOD IS OFF THE CHAIN, still crave the BBQ chicken and chicken and dressing, turnip greens, okay I got to stop I'm hungry now.
While the staff was great during the intake, the counselor failed at communication in a matter of hours of taking my partner there. The staff that monitors the clients in the housing area are more aggressive and abusive than is reasonably called for. There was no allowances for preexisting medical issues that affect daily living needs. The receptionist that handles communication with client's families is rude and very unhelpful. She gives the impression you are disturbing her day and she doesn't appreciate the interruption. Sadly, the whole experience left the impression they are just operating to receive the state funding first, and the clients are a secondary consideration.
