My visit at Memphis Mental Health office at 530 OakCourt Drive Ste. 127, the staff is always professional and friendly. Ms. Jacqueline, the receptionist is always caring, attentive and courteous. She make sure that my appointments are scheduled and I'm comfortable during my visits. Dr. Mason, is my psychiatrist and he's very professional and thoughtful during our sessions. He allows me to express my concerns during my visits. He makes sure that I receive the appropriate care during my visits. I'm able to call him, if I need to see him. The waiting room is always clean, it has soft lightning and its very comfortable. My overall experiences has always been a great. I would recommend this office (business) to those who are seeking privacy and have concerns with their mental health.
My experience AFTER intake was above average. The women in with me were quite a wonderfully diverse group of women who likely would never be friends becoming just that. Real camaraderie exists. Nurses and Dr's are great; high patient volume led to low patient patience [myself], but I'd go again if needed.
This was a very traumatic experience for me. The staff would talk about you infront of your face and you would have to pretend like you couldn’t understand. Would lock the doors to your room so when I desperately needed to lay down on account of my back injury, I would have to lay on the floor. Emily and Kaden were especially condescending and would mock me to my face. There were great staff there too but overall I would not recommend this mental health facility. The treatment team would just listen and then prescribe horse tranquilizer equivalent to make you sleep and to shut you up. I went to my doctor here at home in Arkansas and he took me off of everything they prescribed. I never want to go back there. But the food was amazing!!
Chilee if your child struggling mentally take them here cuz I ended up in this junt cuz my mind was everywhere and crazy and I was seeing weird shit like it was crazy let me tell you something me and my pops are in a better place now but my siblings aunties straight wasn’t doing shit for me and still ain’t I’m only 20 bruh lost my mom mad young from breast cancer crazyyy but let me tell you something this staff genuinely cared I seen some of the other bad reviews but I actually enjoyed my stay like the staff was real sweet to me always asking me if I was ok and it just felt nice to be treated like an actual human being than just some patient with problems cuz the other 2 places I been in didn’t give one damn about you and that food was bussin no cap - diamond
Katherine guilt trips patients parents. Wanted the patient to ride in a car with someone who had to be at work in less than 5 hours from working and hasnt sleep from working 2 doubles and multiple hospital visits. Doesn't care about patient safety. Go somewhere else.
This place has its pros and cons. What I will say is that the employees made sure that I was taken care of and safe. The other patients were wild and violent. The facility is so old and raggedy. I was in a room with three other women and they left before me. I stayed in that cold room for over 13 hours before I could see a therapist. A nurse said that I may have to stay for a week since I tried harming myself, luckily I only stayed that day. I told myself I would never come back here I wasn't as crazy as I thought I was.
It seems like most of the people who work there lied on their resumes in order to work there. They do not care about your mental health. They did not like the fact that I was very self aware and could articulate myself properly and realized it would be more difficult to take advantage of me. I was diagnosed with multiple things including an alcohol based disorder (even though I consume alcohol very seldom) when I questioned this to get a better understanding of what was going on the nurse stormed out with an attitude and they locked me in a room with other patients that where there was urine on the floor as well and brown stuff all over the walls. When I asked them to let me out they refused to listen to me. When I tried to communicate with them like mature adults they refused to listen to me. When I raised my voice slightly 5-6 people stormed into the room and held me down and injected me with an unknown substance via needle. Then they proceeded to “reassess” me when I could barley cling onto my consciousness. I was locked in that room from around 7am to around 5-6 PM. Didn’t feed me.
The previous reviews are correct. Extremely poor service and a disturbing place, trying to get information to help a family member that was admitted. Transferred all over the place, no one can give a straight answer. Dr denied my family member medication they had been taking since they were 7, with no other solution. What kind of dr cuts a patient off life long medication that effects brain chemistry cold turkey? Their website states you’re allowed to bring personal belongings and there’s visitation, due to COVID apparently both are now no longer allowed, and my family member was told he is not allowed to make any phone calls for his duration of stay. Avoid this place at all costs, shut this place down or provide adequate service.
I had a bad experience here when I was a teenager. I will never forget it. A staff member asked me to cut myself. Also threatened to hurt me if opened the door to the room to leave. I do have to say Michelle Tate respected me more than anybody there. She was off at the time it happened. She would have went off!
If I could give this place no stars I would. They don't do the proper testing that ensures the diagnosis is correct, there were numerous people admitted that simply had symptoms of extreme stress that they slapped diagnosis on to suit the pills they push. Many of the patients were on the same medications regardless of their "illness". An orderly punched my fiance in the ear, they let him scuff his hands when he was shoved, they were letting patients fight it out when they were argumentative. They get away with this stuff because it is their word against the "mentally unstable"... The doctor then put my fiance on too high of a dose of lithium resulting in a catatonic depression (from the drugs) and fought tooth and nail to do ECT treatment on him. I had to report abuse, call numerous managers, call the owner of the institution, among many other phone calls just to get him out. If I were you I would never admit a loved one here. They were not properly feeding some of the patients. They let my fiance get so dehydrated his lips were sticking together, cracking, and bleeding. He had snot on his clothes that had not been changed in DAYS when they had him in a catatonic depression, I know this because when I went to visit the same stains and snot were on his clothes from previous visits...He had a seizure due to the neglect and forcing of drugs he had no business taking with nutritional deficiencies and dehydration(major stress on the liver, kidneys, brain, ect), they are attached the the med, at any point they could have had him on IV fluids. They are known for their disregard for their patients, their lack of proper treatment, and pushing pills on these people that are part of class action lawsuits that have long lasting and sometimes permanent side effects. If you send a loved on here, I implore you to research any drug they attempt to put them on and immediately seek a second opinion. The psychiatrist they will send these people to upon release only accepts cash and also works for the company. This place is as crooked as they come. Your loved one is better off in the care of anyone besides these individuals.
