Before starting my sessions at Newtown Counselling with Sophia, I had never attended counselling before and was unsure of what to expect. I began my journey with lots of anxiety and depression, and felt overwhelmed about where to even begin. Over the course of 16 months, I felt very supported with Sophia's guidance and understanding, and was able to process difficult situations and emotions that had affected my mental health for many years. I felt very listened to, valued as a person, and was given the space to express myself in an inviting and comfortable space, free of judgement. I really appreciated how Sophia was very attentive and sensitive to my needs concerning my disabilities, and how she would check to see if any adjustments were necessary. She was very clear and communicative in all correspondence, which was always reassuring. Finally, she was more than happy to provide flexibility on the days I was unable to make it to our sessions in person by setting up Zoom sessions when I requested them, allowing me to continue the momentum to improving my mental health without interruptions. Having now finished my sessions, my mental health has drastically improved and I am very grateful to have been able to work through everything with someone who was very patient and understanding throughout. Could not recommend enough.
I worked with Sophia for around 5 months and I found it incredibly useful. It was my first foray into counselling and I was nervous going in, but Sophia made me feel really at ease, and I knew right away I was in the right place. I really glad I took to plunge to reach out to Sophia and would definitely recommend her.
Sophia and I met for weekly sessions for around 5 months, and I truly can't recommend her enough. Our topics of discussion each week were led by myself, with Sophia asking reflective questions back, which allowed me to explore and resolve various issues I was facing. She was always kind, polite, and understanding. If I were ever considering returning back to counselling, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Sophia.
I worked with Sophia for around 6 months and found it extremely rewarding. Sophia encouraged me to lead each session by bringing something I wanted to share to it. This at first felt quite daunting, but was actually very helpful as our sessions progressed as it resulted in me bringing up exactly what I wanted/needed to talk about, rather than being led down a specific path. I would highly recommend Sophia to anyone considering counselling.
