Recovering from my third shoulder replacement at a pretty young age, very low in confidence after so many surgeries and wanting this round of recovery to be the one. Been looking for a physio who will not only support my physical recovery but also support me in gaining confidence in using my shoulder and getting back to a reasonable level of activity without fear. So far, the sessions with Maddy have been fantastic, she is very caring and supportive and moves at a pace through rehab that doesn’t make me feel rushed. Thank you ☺️

I highly recommend Dan and his team at Move Freely Edinburgh more than any other recommendation I have ever given. When my back went out, I felt completely vulnerable. Dan took me from that place to feeling stronger than I ever have and thriving. He helped me regain my confidence in what my body can do, and now I’m lifting weights in the gym that I never would have imagined possible, even in my 20s! Dan’s care and attention are second to none. I’ve recommended Dan and his colleagues to friends and family and they are all huge advocates too. Dan and his team are utterly professional, exceptionally experienced and at the same time make it fun! Highly recommend!

Went to see Dan after hurting my lower back deadlifting, after each session I came out feeling like a new man. Highly professional and knowledgable and gave me great advice on what I need to work on to prevent future injury. After just two sessions my back is well and truly on the mend. Would definitely recommend.

I have been coming to see Dan and John for a few months now. I feel totally transformed. I have had physio for my back and now have PT sessions that have given me my confidence back and are making me feel strong and fit. I cannot recommend them enough. A service totally tailoired to your needs. Would highly recommend. 😀

I’ve needed physiotherapy on and off for the past ten years due to various issues that come from the high level of training I do. Over that time, I’ve seen a lot of physios in Edinburgh, but many weren’t at the professional standard I’d hoped for. That all changed in 2019 when I started working with Daniel at Move Freely. Since then, I’ve not looked back. His level of knowledge is second to none, and the quality of care he provides is outstanding. Daniel is, without doubt, the best physio in Edinburgh. I highly recommend him and the whole clinic to anyone serious about their recovery and performance.

Been going to Move Freely Sports Therapy for many years. Dan is a great physio: knowledgeable and interested in current developments in practice but also very understanding and interested in your goals and what you want out of physio. I have recommended to friends who have found the same.

Avoid. I really wanted to like this clinic but avoid. During the initial consultation I asked Daniel about his experience of working with hypermobile clients, he assured me he had lots. After a few sessions, he said “he didn’t like the hypermobility label” and “if he has a stiff body, does that mean he’s hypomobile”. An very invalidating approach to a real condition that’s been causing me a lot of pain. He then insisted that I do an exercise I didn’t want even though I was very clear about my no. He acknowledged that it was “a controversial exercise but he liked it”. I then did my research and jeffersons curls can aggravate bulging discs, the very problem I’m trying to solve. He insisted the whole session that I should try, which made me very uncomfortable. A few sessions that had the potential to do more harm than good. Unless you’re a healthy person who wants a gym workout, avoid.

I came to Daniel with patella tendinopathy that had completely sidelined me from the sports I love. What was once a constant source of pain and frustration quickly turned into a structured, focused journey toward recovery. Daniel’s approach to rehabilitation was outstanding - combining targeted resistance training, progressive loading, and plyometric work tailored specifically to my needs. Every session was purposeful, and his attention to form, progression, and detail made a huge difference. Now, thanks to his expertise and guidance, I’m completely pain-free and back doing the activities I’d had to give up. It’s not just about being injury-free - it’s about feeling strong, confident, and better than before. Can’t recommend Daniel highly enough. A true professional and an absolute credit to the field of physiotherapy.

I am currently on vacation in Edinburgh and was having severe hip pain. I found Move Freely through Google and when I checked out their website, they have online scheduling and I was lucky to get a last-minute appointment with John M for the same day. Even luckier, turns out that he is a physical therapist as well, so I was able to get a thorough evaluation and targeted muscle release treatment session for my hip and felt relief immediately! If I lived here, I would definitely start seeing John for my physio treatments. Thanks so much!

I reached out to Move Freely in June 2021, 9 months after I had a stroke which affected the right side of my body. I always enjoyed working out and was kickboxing for many years, so I started getting bored a few months into my stroke physio. I wasn't being challenged enough and needed something more. Working with Daniel and Callum gave me what I was missing, parts of my old life. Through exercises who are designed to help with my mobility as well as spacial awareness and the ability to think fast on your feet, Move Freely has made me realise that there is life after a stroke, if you want it. I've come a long way since being the scared woman who was unsure of herself. My boxing is getting better and better with each session, I am able to lift weights and use my body weight for TRX exercises, which I thought I would never be able to do again. As one if the mottos at the gym area says "If you are persistent you will get it. If you are consistent you will keep it." Whenever I ask Daniel if I can do a particular exercise he says you can do anything, just be careful. This is what I look for in a therapist, a person who motivates you to exceed, while still respecting your limitations. As Daniel reminds me whenever I get frustrated I cannot do an exercise well the first time, I had a stroke after all.
