5* review for First Psychology, If you are unsure or still thinking on it, call them, I assure you it’ll be the best thing you ever do. Everyone is so polite, understanding & helpful. The website is informative, I find the payment system easy to navigate too. I can’t recommend Victor Morton highly enough,he’s been providing me with a very high standard of care for over a year, the progress I’ve made is beyond measure and I actually feel hopeful for the first time in my life. I was previously seeing another therapist in Aberdeen however my family & I were unhappy by his methods, lack of structure & no real recovery plan. My NHS psychiatrist recommended FP as he had afew patients going there while waiting for NHS therapy so my family and I phoned. The team are always extremely helpful, patient and friendly when I call. I really liked that I got to choose my therapist then FP team explained the process. I chose Victor Morton as my therapist, I was very nervous and my anxiety was high ahead of the first session with him. I felt alittle more relaxed because it was done via FaceTime rather than on the laptop. I was immediately put at ease early in the session as Victor is so friendly, calm and reassuring. Sounds odd but I think what also helped was he wasn’t wearing a shirt or tie so didn’t feel as pressured. He is very professional yet I felt relaxed and comfortable enough to talk about difficult and upsetting things. Victor explained that he wants me to be honest with him, something I struggled to voice with the previous therapist. He explained his expertise, knowledge and his ethos in a clear way that i understood. In the first 15mins of the session I the difference between Victor and previous therapists (including NHS) was like day and night. In the 20 years I have had complex mental health he is the first professional to ask me to write a timeline of events/life. I sent the timeline over to Victor, it was quite clear that he had studied it and in doing so he showed that he genuinely cared about helping me. Each session feels structured, I often talk too much and I struggle to focus but he has a brilliant way to help me concentrate. We cover a great deal within the sessions, he will explain facts and explanations about certain behaviors but he always does this in small amounts and I never feel overwhelmed. Normally I struggle because of my dyslexia, Victor has experience with dyslexia and he has a great way to explain things to me in a helpful way. Therapists have tried to teach me breathing techniques many times but I fail to remember but I’ve got a technique down to a tee now and it’s helped me with situations. I have absolute confidence in Victor as a professional, I actually look forward to each session and feel excited thinking ‘what will I learn today’ mindset and I leave feel positive. Victor often sets me some homework each week too, it’s a great way to continue throughout the week. I’am so much further on than I was, actively working towards my recovery and feel hopeful for the first time. I could go on and on with praise and do Plummets for Victor and FP. They have been absolutely amazing, I can’t believe the difference in only afew sessions. I have complex health issues for the past 20 years and when my family and I phoned FP, I was so incredibly desperate, in crisis/shutdown mode and having suicidal moments. Both FP and Victor have helped beyond measure, I now feel hope. If are reading this please know there is hope, you will get through this phase in your life and you’ll find the right professional at FP to help you. I encourage and urge you to put yourself first and pick the phone up.
