Do not trust with USCIS immigration evaluations. Our evaluation was denied by USCIS for "missing the required explanation." The deficiency was identified by multiple USCIS immigration officers and one immigration supervisor. After the denial, I repeatedly clarified in writing that I was not requesting any change in diagnosis or clinical opinion, only compliance with USCIS requirements. Dr. Shaaban refused to correct the identified deficiency and stated that his “assessment process is standardized and does not vary from client to client” (cookie cutter approach). Several immigration attorneys also immediately identified the deficiency in his form, as it is quite obvious once one reads the instructions.
Easy to make appointments, professional and welcoming
Very well run practice with excellent therapists. We’ve been very happy there and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a therapist in Center City.
The psychologists at Philadelphia Couples Therapy frequently and confidently refer to the Philadelphia Center for Psychotherapy! We know their clinicians will provide ethical, caring, and top tier care to any patients we refer their way. We think of them for patients who have experienced trauma, and whenever someone needs to use their insurance for therapy. They are phenomenal at what they do.
Hider Shaaban has been my therapist for many years now. Over the years, he has been extremely helpful to me. Hider is great to talk with, very patient and understanding, and uses appropriate therapy techniques fittingly for concerns with relationships, job stress and job difficulties, and different mental health difficulties. I highly recommend Hider and the staff at Philadelphia Center for Psychotherapy for help with any difficulty or challenge you are facing!
PCP has been transformational for me. I was hesitant to start therapy, but my therapist provided unwavering support during one of the most challenging times in my life. She was incredibly approachable and supportive. I also appreciated the calm environment/vibe of the place.
I had quite a few issues with this practice when I was still having sessions there. There's an entrance to their suite on the 16th floor, and on the 19th floor. Both require a code to get in. I wasn't told until the last minute what the code was, since prior to that, I was knocking on their doors after not having anyone pick up from their number. I was unaware of there being a fee for missing an appointment and not letting the therapist know at least 24 hours prior until I had to cancel upon being sick. That fee was almost as much as what I was paying for a session, since I had to pay out of pocket upon learning my insurance wasn't accepted. Which I learned only after I started seeing my therapist. Communication seems to be lacking. Also, despite stating that I preferred to see a woman, I was placed with a man. While he was nice, there's just some things I'm not comfortable with speaking to a man about as opposed to a woman. I couldn't be completely transparent with him, which defeats the purpose of therapy. In short, I'm not happy with the experience I had here. They need to do better with communicating to their clients, and respecting their preferences.
