TL;DR: Go anywhere else. Recently ended services at Equilibria after an issue was terribly handled. Staff conveniently ignored requests for contact info to appropriately escalate the concern. The therapist, Emma Sadler, became defensive and weaponized therapy speak in response to the impact the situation had on us as clients. It was such a strange, stark change in attitude after having worked with her for over a year. In my experience, the condescending, manipulative double speak and DARVO tactics you'll find in responses to the negative reviews here reflects the culture at Equilibria as a whole. Being vulnerable in the way good therapy work requires you to be is unsafe in that kind of environment. Keep searching. You deserve better.
I do not recommend booking with this office. My appointment was canceled without any prior notice—no phone call or email communication was provided. As a result, I waited in the office for an hour, only to learn that no one would be attending to my appointment.
Sam and Sophia are amazing therapists. My life has been changed because of their kindness, dedication, and therapeutic practices. I could not recommend Equilibria enough!
They bait and switched me with the cost of therapy. Read many reviews and you will see a bad pattern. It's a shame because it took me YEARS to even admit I needed to talk to someone and after finding a great match for my therapy they waited and then said I owed more money. Never a 'Hey, sorry, we made a mistake'. Just 'you need to pay THIS not THAT and you owe us $80. That 80 was for services I had already paid for and received. You don't sell something and then a month later tell the buyer they need to pay more than double what they already. After I post this, I am reporting them to the state insurance commissioner. Update: Errors were made and corrected. After contacting me and correcting issues, I volunteered to take down the negative review. I was told to leave it here so that they know they can do better. I respect that.
I had a terrible experience at this psychology center. The testing was poorly done and didn't seem thorough at all. Mr. Campbell, in particular, failed me in every way. He didn't communicate clearly or provide any helpful feedback. I felt rushed through the process and left with more confusion than answers. Would not recommend this place to anyone looking for proper psychological evaluation or support.
Every single person I have had an encounter with has been absolutely welcoming, friendly and helpful. This is the very best beginning to a new job ever!!! I can tell that I am going to love it here!! I can’t wait to dive right in and begin this fabulous new journey!
Colleen Smith is one of the people that goes out of her way to help provide the best information possible in order to give each client the most appropriate fit for a therapist. It is a joy to work with her and each time I have had interactions with this organization, they have been positive
Based on the response I received from your coordinator Colleen, I can see why there are so many negative reviews. How is it that there are only staff members on board who does not accept insurance. As you very well know mental health has increased since the pandemic. This place needs to step up your game if you want to stay in business. Not everyone afford to pay out of pocket $75 to $95 per session. Especially if there is a need for multiple ones.
Dr. Kristy was my child’s therapist for about 6 months. While it was easy for my child to interact with her, I often found their time together poorly spent. Most times my child would draw or play with stuffed animals but nothing was related back to her emotional concerns or regulation. I asked my child if she liked her time with Dr. Kristy and she would excitedly say yes but also shared that she didn’t feel like it was helping with her process her emotions. When I took this information to Dr. Kristy, she replied saying that children can’t often identify the benefits of therapy themselves. That may be true but, as the parent, I couldn’t identify the benefit of their sessions either. Our parent/ therapist meets were pretty much us discussing the sessions and progress or lack there of and concerns. I did always feel like Dr. Kristy understood my concerns and she would offer useful tips in helping my child. I think Dr. Kristy was approachable and welcoming and made my child feel comfortable. It was easy to talk to her week to week. I would’ve however liked to see her dig deeper than the surface with my child and make better use of their time together. My child would talk/play the whole session and Dr. Kristy never brought her back to focus. She would go with whatever my child wanted to talk about even if it was about stuffed animals. Only one or two of her sessions had anything to do with my child’s “real life feelings”. I feel like with some redirection there would’ve been a greater benefit.
I recently reached out in search of a good fit for a therapist at Equilibria and was sent back a generic dismissive email response without even asking what my concerns are or what I need help with. I am extremely disappointed since they claim to want to help people. If there are no appointments available for the unforeseeable future, then it should state that on the website. This was a horrible first impression.
