I’ve only been with Chris for a few months, but it feels like I’ve made years worth of progress. If you want to level up your therapy he’s your man!
Chris helped me with my bipolar disorder and anxiety over a 1.5 year period of time. I also joined his CBT group and it was a life saver. I highly recommend him. He is friendly, personable, and a great listener. I also have to say the person who gave the one star probably wasn't having the best day. I have always found Chris to be very professional.
I've got to respond to the one star rating because Chris Deussing is the best therapist I've ever had. I struggle with PTSD and BPD and the progress I've made in the three years I've been seeing him exceed any progress with any therapist I've had in the last 20 years. Let's be clear - he's not a touchy-feely, " How do you feel about that?" kind of therapist. He is no BS, and emphasized action, and that's what makes our relationship work. If you're looking for Frasier, go somewhere else. But if you want Tyler Durden, this is your guy.
I wish I could give zero stars. This man severely lacks professionalism, compassion, and basic manners. I had made an appointment for my eighteen year old daughter, for DBT therapy. We arrived about 5 minutes early. He was not in his office. There was no receptionist, and the other therapists had no idea where he was. We waited for him for 40 minutes. About to leave, I saw him in the hallway (recognized him by the picture.) I approached him and said I had an appointment with you. He said my name, so obviously he knew about the appointment, but he did not apologize for not being in the office. He then talked to my daughter for a few minutes, and to me for a few minutes afterward. He awkwardly just tried to end the conversation, stating that he won’t be able to accept her into his practice because her needs are too great, and we live too far away (knowledge he had previous to scheduling her intake.) He was outright rude, showed no compassion or empathy for the mentally ill teenager. I am so sorry I took my daughter to see Christopher Deussing, getting her hopes up that she might be able to find effective therapy, and wasting our time. Do not make the same mistake I did. Stay away from Christopher Deussing and PhilaDBT. Edit 7/6/19: Mr. Deussing commented on my review, offering me to respond to his private message. As of this day, I have not received any private message from Mr. Deussing.
