I have such a deep appreciation for the transparency this practice offers regarding their therapists' identities. As a queer person, it was crucial for me to find a gay male therapist who looked like me and sounded like me, and Kevin Hershey was exactly that. In every session, Kevin went above and beyond, providing a truly judgment-free queer space where I felt comfortable sharing my emotional life without being filtered. He is a highly engaging therapist whose transparency about his own background as a queer man served as the building blocks for the trust we established. Honestly, I'm super satisfied with all the progress I've made. Even for the goals I haven't quite hit yet, Kevin made sure I stayed accountable and gave me a clear roadmap for the near future. I would absolutely recommend both Kevin and myTherapyNYC to any queer person looking for a great therapeutic fit.
What I loved most was how comfortable I felt during every session. Even when I shared difficult or personal experiences, the counsellor made me feel respected and understood. It felt like a safe space where I could finally be myself.
Great practice, I did most of my sessions from home but loved that there was an option to go in person if I wanted to. Kevin Hershey was amazing to work with, would highly recommend! I worked with Kevin for over a year and only hd to stop going because I switched to an insurance they didn't not accept :( Would definitely go back if that were to change.
I highly recommend Kevin Hershey - he is an incredible therapist. His warm and calm demeanor and sense of humor made me comfortable to open up early on. He was fully present during our sessions, and his observations and insights were sharp and nuanced. I gained so much benefit in under a year and I appreciate Kevin’s work.
A very lovely office, the vibe is welcoming and calming. My individual therapist was amazing. As a young queer person of color, it can be difficult to find a therapist to resonate with but I would definitely recommend this place.
I really valued my time at myTherapyNYC. My therapist, Kevin Hershey, made the experience truly impactful. From the beginning, Kevin created a safe and supportive space where I felt comfortable being myself. He is an exceptional listener, compassionate, and not afraid to share his own humanity when it helps the work. Kevin has a real gift for helping me reframe situations and see new perspectives. His insights often brought clarity and allowed me to approach challenges with more confidence and self-compassion. It was also especially meaningful for me to work with Kevin as a gay therapist. Having that shared understanding and perspective made our connection deeper and the work even more powerful. I’m very grateful for the time I had with Kevin and would highly recommend both him and myTherapyNYC to anyone seeking thoughtful, supportive, and genuinely impactful therapy.
A sharp, thoughtful and affirming practice with an impressive team. I gained so much clarity, confidence, and perspective during my time here—and I’m deeply grateful for the support I received. The therapists are caring, insightful, and genuinely invested in helping people grow. If you’re looking for a space that’s welcoming, reflective, and built to meet you where you are, I’d highly recommend this one.
myTherapyNYC is excellent. Both my partner and I, separately, received therapy here and had a great experience. A shoutout to Sam, my therapist. I am in a much, much better place mentally thanks to him. He totally adjusted my perspective on work and life for the better. He moved me to "love my fate" (my words or better yet Nietzsche's). I now have a totally new, fresh and positive perspective. A new lease on life. Thanks!
myTherapyNYC is an amazing clinic with kind and generous staff. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to understand tough emotions and receive help from the best in the city. I went here for 6 months and left surprised with how far I've come with my understanding of my own emotions and being. If you are going through any financial stability like I was, the clinic is happy to discuss financial plans that can support you. I applied to the sliding-scale program and generously received support through that. Try to visit the office, if you can! It's cozy and comforting. :)
Danielle Robbins was my therapist and I would recommend her to anyone special in my life. Danielle has a grounding, calm aura about her that gave me the courage to be open up and be seen. She was patient and kind every single session. Danielle and I did EMDR therapy and Talk/Somatic work. After working together for roughly 1 1/2 years, I feel more connected to myself than I ever have which has allowed me to discover parts of my identity that I had no idea existed. I will forever be grateful for the time we spent together. Management at myTherapyNYC made my therapy experience more difficult than it should have been.
