I have had 4 of my grandkids come here and Courtney is amaizing!!always doing what she can to help them get through there issues and trauma. Highly recommended would give a 10 star if I could
Great staff and amazing experiences. Cas does incredible work with support and communication, front desk staff are also very helpful
I love this place and wouldnβt trust anywhere else with my kiddos head space. Iβve dealt with a lot of therapists to know the good from bad. Or the ones that care versus the ones that are just getting paid and small steps though busy is furthest from non caring. I would rather wait months for the right therapist versus getting in right away to have several different wrong ones π€·π»ββοΈ
All of my grandchildren needed extreme trauma based therapy. Me and my husband were lost going around in circles trying several different therapies trying to figure out how to best help these kids while handling our own traumas in the process. I was referred to Courtney by the only therapist I really came to trust throughout the years Kathleen. Well needless to say boy was she right yet again. Courtney has been a lifesaver to my family. Helping us navigate so many different issues. Idk how many times Iβve hit her up probably after hours and no matter what was going on in her own life she always responded. I realize for some people they want ow now now and because of the lack in behavioral health for our kids unfortunately for our kids in New Mexico our good ones get bombarded but know this place does their very best and if you are a client they do have your childβs best intentions at heart. It just takes a little understanding and communication on both sides. βΊοΈ
Took our son here, and they seemed unorganized didn't have rules on the day we came in. Then the second day they decide to make rules for my son and lock doors on him. Keep in mind I had to drive 2 hours to a session for the owner/ CEO to send us away and come back another day. There was no time for a turn around or to see if his behavior would get better. It was just see you later. I don't believe they even tried with my son. I felt unwelcome, and I wrote a email of my concerns and experience. I never got an apology or anything type of feedback. They could care less why we discontinued our sessions. Very rude ! I Do not suggest them . Only my opinion and my child safety is important. P.s if I could give a zero star I would!!
We took one of our kids to Small Steps for quite a while, and we had a great experience! The front desk staff was always friendly and helpful, and there's a nice waiting area in the front. And our daughter's counselor was wonderful and worked with both my wife and I and our daughter to move forward through some things.
My kids have seen different therapists at Small Steps over the years. They are always kind and listen to the children and the parents! We have one adopted child and Small Steps was there for us at the beginning when multiple kiddos in our household needed some extra care around that. Later on one kiddo needed another year of therapy. Or maybe mom and dad did! Our therapist helped US just as much as our child in learning how to see the situation from multiple perspectives and give us greater insight into what our child might be facing. So thankful for Small Steps!
After my 3 grandchildren were removed from their parents custody and placed in my home, we were referred to Small Steps Child Counseling. Courtney has been amazing with all 3 of them. She would come out to our house once a week for a year and do fun activities with them. She would work with them as a group and also one at a time. They loved her visits. She played a big part in helping them adjust at home and in school. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing counseling for their child or children.
Courtney and Small Steps was absolutely a life saver for both my family and my adoptive daughter. She helped us understand what my daughter had gone through and parenting steps to support her integrating to her new home. Our family would never have survived with our the kindness and support we received from small steps.
My family has been going to Small Steps for several years and we highly recommend them--in the very least--for families with kids with trauma, who are or were in foster system, and who have special needs. We have worked with several therapists throughout the years who have all been phenomenal. They are professional, extremely qualified and provide multidisciplinary support when needed, working with school and other therapists to support kids and their families. My partner and I are on the frontlines and during the pandemic they have increased their support to families when so many other resources are being limited. We would not have survived this last year without our team of therapists at Small Steps and we are ever grateful for their compassionate, family centered care.
