In my experience it was a good program, I will come back and update but that may take up to a month! I will make some phone calls and perhaps travel there to learn more!

The HUM was there for me when I truly had nowhere else to go, and for that I thank GOD. They run a tight schedule between all the meals, classes, groups and meetings, etc. It is highly structured regarding routine, and I think most of its clients need help with time management, so that's a good thing. Much of the staff are in recovery themselves. Most of them haven't forgotten where they came from and are kind, and treat clients as equals. Then there are some staff members who don't seem as if they want to be there, and abuse their authority by treating the clients as inferiors, forgetting how sensitive people are who are in recovery. I liked my job in the kitchen, it could be fun and gave me something to do. I would have stayed there if they allowed me to get a job. I still need to have an income to pay for things in my life. Nine months of "being still" is great if you're on SSI and high on maintenance meds. But I needed a faster paced program with a lot more freedoms. A staff member found me another program that is a better fit for me, where they encourage people to keep it moving in the right direction to reclaim your independence. I felt completely dependent at the HUM. They do charge $111 a month for rent and seize all your SNAP benefits, so don't be mistaken, the TDAP you're applying for will be applied to your cost of living. I wasn't about to be broke and stuck for 9 months to a year. The spiritual aspect of the program was much needed for me, and I especially appreciated the teachings by the chaplain. I'm grateful for everything from the HUM, all flaws in the program aside. It may have taken all my assistance and left me with nothing to leave with, but it saved me from sleeping on a sewer grate or park bench. I recommend it highly if you have private income and need help with recovery.

Helping up mission is a big JOKE!!!!!... The staff members who u meet with when you first get there were so mean to me and very unprofessional.... They didn't HELP ME AT ALL .. Helping up mission put me back on the streets the very SAME DAY I WENT FOR HELP ... The helping up mission gets over 5 million annually in grants and donations.... Tell me .. why in the hell are they charging people who have NOTHING.... That's why people come there.... To push religion down your throat in order to stay there is unacceptable!!!!!!!!!

The Hum absolutely changed my life!! I tell so many others some of my story and tell them that they don't have to live the way they are living anymore!!! HUM provided me with a safe place to heal and recover from years of abuse and addiction. I love the staff and they still love me!!! 100% recommend to anyone who is tired of living in an addiction and wants a real chance to start their lives over with a brand new outlook on life!!! Now I'll have 4 years sober on November 11, 2025 and I'm thriving!!! Thank you so much HUM for helping me make it!!!

The services for veterans are good for helping veterans get back their self worth back. They provide shelter and help with common needs for veterans. There are opportunities for veterans to get help for those dealing with addition. They also help veterans who are looking for shelter on a temporary basis. I would recommend veterans who are facing a difficult time to give the Helping Up Mission a chance to help them reclaim their lives with dignity and respect. Mr. Rasheed Savage will get you the help that you need and he is very professional in his approach to helping people, especially veterans.

I love Helping Up Mission. I have seen the results of some of their work in rehabilitation of people. What I take away from the negative comments I've read, is that one must be serious about getting clean + sober

So disappointed with this program. My son was in a program for 21 day and 14 days into that program he was accepted into Helping Ip Mission. When the day came that his 21 days was up and was taken to Helping up Mission he was turned away, being told that it was due to the fact that he is Bi-polar and has PTSD. Now he wasn’t asked what his PTSD came from and it came from him witnessing his brother in law getting shot. So he doesn’t like the sound of guns nor does he like them or like being around them. He was told they could not chance him being there with 300 other men.Now if u check the facts probably 80% of drug addict have some type of mental illness. Now maybe they may come into your program now telling the truth and my son was truthful and has never been charged with any kind of violent crimes nor does he get involved in that. Sadly u turned him away. You should seriously be ashamed especially being such a godly follower.

Decent very clean place. Decent Dinner & Breakfast. However, they only serve coffee as a drink for breakfast and it was announced they Do Not Have Sugar In The Bldg... No OJ either. First night was free. Dont understand why they would charge people $ when they are down on their luck

Helping Up Mission is truly a life changing recovery center if your truly looking for a change. It helped me 4 years ago when I was at one of the lowest points of my life. The staff, meetings, John Hopkins all truly engage with their clients and want everyone to win. I went from having nothing left in life to gaining everything. To be a part of and give back to the community is one if not the biggest blessing ever.

I went to helping up mission 2 years ago and finished the 6 month program. There’s so much good education in this program and so many helpful people. If you know someone that needs help after detox this is the place!!! I wish people knew more about helping up mission because the amazing works they do deserve to be on the media!!!
