It works for some people, I guess. I'm transmasc and did not feel supported in this space. For me, it was very clicky. I was here for 5 months (March-August). I gave it a good try. If you don't fit in, you won't belong. I didn't fit in. So I wasn't wanted. I was tolerated because I volunteered. I made two friends. One moved away to NC, and the other I keep in touch with. But those are from people who attend. The people "in charge" just want certain people there. (Don't bother if you're white like me) No one reached out to me. From my experiences with them, I conclude that they are anti-12 Steps (especially AA). They accept NA a little easier, but still have aversion to it, due to the Steps and "God". They have a strong leaning to SMART Recovery. The "groups" they do, don't offer any discussion. Check-in is okay, because you can tell on what's been bothering you. Aside from that, I wouldn't even call them groups. If a "non-profit" like this continues to run on this business model, they won't be around much longer. I think the people "in charge" may be misusing funds. Call it a suspicion. They're still behind on their audits. I know where I don't fit in. And where I won't be coming back to.
Best Transman Space EVAH!!!
I feel very supported by the staff and other members there! Iโm grateful that they are a part of my life. ๐๐ฟ
I volunteer here and I love the things we do for the LGBT community especially for those with mental health concerns.
A terrible place with not very nice people they talk about others
