I started going to Weiscoff Child Evaluation Center as a adult, around 25yrs old.(I'm a big kid now) I found out that I don't just have epilepsy (at 18month old) and a host of other things. But I also have to add mitochondrial myopathy to the list. Thanks to these good doctors, I found out why I was having all of my medical problems especially now that I'm nearly 60.
My son’s doctor put in a referral back in July of 2024, we were scheduled for the initial eval appointment for April of 2025. We were called and advised that Doctor was leaving the practice and had to be rescheduled to October of 2025 with Dr Sears. Well we received a phone call today that Dr Sears is phasing into retirement and they have to reschedule our appointment AGAIN! This is absolutely ridiculous.
My grandson saw Dr Mendoza here at thr Weisskop Center from birth to about 9. She was wonderful. She took everything about him into account for each visit. She followed and cheered for each developmental milestone he met and also advancements in schoolwork. I never had to fight with him to go to her appointments. He had developmental delay and ADHD. He had some crossover issues that could be a very mild form of autism but explained with his other issues it would be difficult to separate them out. It was sad when she told us he didn't need to see her anymore but so grateful for the strides she guided him through and the support she gave the family. I can not fathom why anyone would give a negative review to such a wonderful doctor and person.
Our autism eval went great here. They were professional and very nice. It was clean and updated. Mary Brehm was awesome. Great experience.
This place has been horrible for my son. We had to wait for an intial evaluation, like many, and had an appointment scheduled. I called the week prior becuase i hadn't received any paperwork or directions in the mail or mychart. His appointment had been changed to the next morning. The morning! No one notified me of the time change. With a 4 hour drive and multiple children, this was chaos at best. The communication among the staff members is atrocious. Every time i try to refill his prescription, it winds up taking multiple days, sometimes 10 or more, because everyone there seems to have their own policies about refilling. This last time, after over a week of waiting, i was told today that because the doctor sent his script to the wrong pharmacy, my son would have to suffer. My son is 6 and cannot function without his meds. This place is the worst i have ever seen.
We waited nearly a year for our initial appointment and drove an hour to get there. The day of our first appointment, we arrived early, checked in, and waited for well over an hour. As it turns out, they checked in the wrong child. We were treated rudely (as if was our fault that someone else checked in the wrong patient) and the actual visit felt rushed. We decided to go back for a second appointment and the evaluation, hoping it was just a big mistake, but I still left feeling like our concerns were mostly dismissed. We were scheduled for a one year follow-up. Yesterday, while at the neurologist, I told her about our upcoming appointment and she proceeded to tell me that MyChart didn't have that appointment listed. Low and behold, they gave me an appointment card with the date and time of the appointment but did not actually schedule the appointment. They had the audacity to ask if I was mistaken and that I should have scheduled a follow-up appointment, so I'm attaching the appointment card they gave us in the attached photos that shows it should have been scheduled.
This place is amazing. The doctors are so sweet and you can tell they know what they are doing. They have an entire team of doctors to evaluate your child. They were reassuring to us, and I felt like they answered all of our questions with patience. There's a long wait list but we got in within 2 weeks through First Steps.
When calling to schedule an appointment, my request was quickly handled. However, I give my phone call experience a 3 star because the lady whom answered the phone seemed annoyed and in such a rush to get off the phone with me when I had questions regarding the appointment. When I thanked her for HER time, she hung up on me. Weisskopf may want to look into hiring receptionist that actually want to work for them and who have better customers service skills.
We were not given any heads up on what to expect. They asked me for our whole family history on the spot when they should have put that in the paperwork. I felt extremely crowded with 3 doctors in the room with me and my 2 kids. After a million questions that I couldn't answer because I wasn't prepared, they told me they would see if my insurance would cover testing and get back to me. As someone who has never dealt with genetic testing before, it would have been extremely helpful to have at least some indication what was expected of us. My son was the one going to be tested. We never went back after the initial appointment.
Great fast testing and nice People. But whomever deals with billing is terrible! Twice now I've gotten a letter from my daughter's Medicaid about payment issues because no one on your side os submitting anything properly. I called insurance and was told it is covered for her and that your office is the issue. They said if I don't hear back from anyone that billing will need to speak with coverage at insurance because this is very unacceptable.. I would hate for this place to get into trouble over this but the reality is you can't keep doing this to people.
