Did not review the my information thoroughly before meeting with me. Not collaborative. Did not take constructive criticism well. Poor listening skills, missing and forgetting things I just told her. Blamed my frustration with this particular issue on my autism diagnosis, and she then shifted the issue to being about something else. Even though I expressly stated that she doesn't properly absorb information and immediately forgot yet another detail I had just told her only a moment before. Details which were included in my forms, and that I had told her about before. I don't know how many times I had to repeat myself, but it was frequent. She means well, but clearly needs to work on her clinical demeanor. EDIT: In response to your reply, it's fine if she asks questions more than once, I understand that. However, things could have been made more efficient if she hadn't interrupted me every other sentence. I was constantly cut off before I had the chance to finish a thought. It was clear things were being rushed.

THIS! THIS is what Psychiatry is supposed to be like! I have been dealing with mental health issues since I was a teenager, I am now 45 years old. I have never spent more than 15 minutes with a psychiatrist in my entire life during my journey with multiple different Healthcare systems. Kimmie is the first doctor who has ever truly taken the time to listen to me. For the first time in my life, I felt genuinely heard and seen. She asked questions no other doctor had ever asked, and it was clear from the start that she cares about your entire wellbeing, not just the symptoms you walk in with. She has changed my life exponentially for the better, and I will be forever grateful for her! I can’t praise her enough, and I sincerely hope her way of practicing medicine becomes the standard across the American healthcare system — we would all benefit from it.

I have had the pleasure of working with Kimmie several years ago as our career paths crossed. She is a compassionate, professional, and ethical provider that takes time to listen and work with her clients one-on-one. She is open to collaborate with other providers to offer the best care and possible outcomes for her clients. I do not hesitate to refer my clients to her for medication evaluations and management.

I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic to anyone I know. They are so professional but at the same time you can tell they truly do care about the people/patients and this is not just a job to them, but something they love to do. They love to help people. I find it very moving. I have had my share of not great doctors or clinics but never once did “YOU” give me bad feelings or make me feel less than. You can tell these people take their work very seriously but at the same time you can also feel that they really care about you and your wellbeing. Again this place is great and I would happily tell any of my loved ones to go here.

The office staff and the doctors here are both great. I’ve had positive experiences with Dr. Nguyen - I actually followed her to You Psychiatry Clinic from another practice because I trust her: in my experience she genuinely cares about her patients and gets to know them as a person. She is knowledgeable and receptive to my concerns and questions. The office is communicative and prompt about getting back to me and scheduling me. They have virtual evening appointments so it’s great for working people and chicagoans who don’t want to hustle in traffic to go to an in person visit. I would recommend them to other people who are balancing their mental health needs and self-care with busy and demanding jobs. Great support team to help you navigate the mental health world and to take compassionate care of yourself. Best of luck!

As a college student juggling a heavy course load and the stress that comes with it, I was looking for a supportive, understanding place to get help with my mental health. This clinic provided exactly that. The staff is professional, compassionate, and really takes the time to listen. The care I’ve received has made a huge difference in my ability to manage stress and focus on my studies. Highly recommend to any student who’s feeling overwhelmed and needs a safe space to talk.

I've had such a positive experience with YOU Psychiatry Clinic. From the first appointment, I felt like the staff truly listened and cared about what I was going through. They take a very personalized approach during treatment and are not just handing out prescriptions. They actually work with you to understand your goals and what healing looks like for you. The option to do appointments virtually or in-person has been super convenient for my schedule as well. Their patient portal also makes communication really easy. I can send a message and actually get a timely response, which hasn’t always been the case with other places I’ve tried. If you're looking for compassionate, modern mental health care in Chicago, I highly recommend giving them a try.

I’m writing this as a family member of someone who’s been seeing Huong (Kimmie), and I just want to say how thankful we are to have found her. From the very beginning, she created a space where my loved one felt understood, and respected. She’s warm, and has a great way of being supportive while also keeping things honest. What impressed us most is her background in cross-cultural psychiatry. It’s clear that she understands how deeply culture, family expectations, and personal identity can influence mental health. That kind of insight has made a big difference in helping my family member feel comfortable and open up during treatment. We’ve seen real progress since starting care with her, and it gives us peace of mind knowing they’re in good hands. I would absolutely recommend Kimmie to anyone looking for thoughtful, culturally competent mental health support — no matter what your background is.
