Dawna Gutzmann — Psychiatrist in Chicago, IL

I had without a doubt the most bizarre and unprofessional experience working with Dawna. After my primary care provider of over 5 years started going through health issues and ended his practice I was unfortunately referred to Dawna. Upon my initial call I had explained the situation that I had been given her number by my original doctor's assistant. After our brief call she called in a medication on a 6 month refill with the intention of actually meeting over a video call or in person after those 6 months (keep in mind I have been taking this medication for over 5 years). On the last month of my refill I was sent a piece of mail stating that their had been issues with my insurance; not a problem I called Dawna only to be ignored then texted that she was sending me to collections unless I quickpaid her. Didn't appreciate the threat but no problem I sent the quickpay and agreed that before our next appointment I will just pay out of pocket where she then acknowledged that I still had another month on my medication before we would need to meet again. This is where things became confusing and somewhat traumatic. I call in my prescription through the automated system as a patient, as I had done for the past 5-6 years, only to be greeted by another text from Dawna the following morning claiming that I had attempted to call in a medication under her name, that she was cancelling my medication (which could have been lethal) and a threat to file a police report. Didn't appreciate this threat either; very confused I tried calling only to be ignored then spoke to the pharmacist who claimed that did not happen but that my medication was canceled although they have record of Dawna calling it in August on a 6 month refill. Then the following day I receive a random text from Dawna claiming she had called in the medication for my last month but does not wish to work together which I was absolutely on board with considering there was no chance I was dealing with this treatment again. For anyone seeking help I would highly recommend exploring your options. From what I have read it seems like I am not the first person who has had a bizarrely unprofessional encounter and I never want to go through an experience like this again.

She's awesome...met all my needs. she's professional and a very listener. I strongly recommend her.

She is extremely unprofessional, and I would not advise anyone to schedule an appointment with her.
