Disappointing to see someone who presents themselves as “neurodivergent-affirming” perpetuate the same stigmatizing narratives autistic people deal with every day. There’s a huge contradiction in advocating for autism acceptance while framing autistic explanations as “excuses,” encouraging public assumptions of guilt from incomplete context, and reinforcing distrust toward autistic communication. It continues to prove what many autistic people already experience: people support autism in theory until autistic traits, communication differences, or misunderstandings actually show up around them in real life.
As a therapist, finding a practice I trust with my more complex referrals is huge. Cira Center is my go-to when clients need specialized support around neurodivergence and trauma. Having therapists and prescribers under one roof makes a real difference for clients who need that level of coordinated care. They get it in a way not every practice does. Grateful to have them as a resource!
CCBH is a gem. Founded on values of inclusion, evolution and compassion, this practice offers quality care. This practice also has cutting-edge specialization in neurodiversity.
I would not recommend based on my experience. I hate that it's almost impossible to get someone on the phone and they want everything to go through email. The response time for the doctor I saw was extremely slow, days and sometimes weeks.
Cira Center has amazing staff that are passionate about the work they are doing and are inclusive of all identities. They truly want to help you along your journey. Their office staff are always available to respond to questions and assist where they can. I would definitely recommend taking a look at their list of therapists as there are so many diverse options and specializations.
After your sign up. They will email you constantly about billing items but if you have an issue with a prescription they will ghost you. I have had this issue for 4 weeks now with an authorization. No returned call or emails. Do not recommend 0/10
This practice DEEPLY cares about their staff and their clients! They provide incredibly high quality trauma-informed care, and are a staple in the Oak Park & Chicagoland community for a reason! They are Wonderful!!
Terrible continuity of care- high turn over rate for therapists (new one January and then again in august to be specific). Do not recommend. The oak park office is now closed. Of course it’s not updated.
Very professional office. Dr. Kritchell is wonderful to work with. She makes me feel very comfortable. She truly listens to me and validates my feelings. She has given me great advice and tools to succeed. I would recommend her to anyone who is needing help.
I have been doing regular session for over 2 years. Has been a very positive experience and helped me move forward. Dr. Cira is wonderful to work with and I would recommend it to anyone looking for some help.
