Michael Swiatkowski, DO, is a psychiatrist practicing in Chicago, Illinois. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and completed his Chief Residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. Swiatkowski's approach integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), supportive therapy, and mindfulness into his psychiatric practice. He conducts initial consultations with a comprehensive biopsychosocial-spiritual evaluation, covering chief complaints, medical history, past treatments, risk factors, and protective factors to inform diagnosis and treatment recommendations. He treats a wide range of conditions listed in the DSM, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, ADHD, insomnia, personality disorders, and substance and eating disorders. While he incorporates therapeutic elements, he notes that most clients also see a non-physician therapist for more frequent sessions and is open to collaboration.

I don't recommend Michael. He ghosted me after about four or five sessions, and the tone of those sessions was often presumptuous and even demeaning at times. I had a referral from another therapist and have official diagnosed and assessments for the ailments I was seeking treatment for, so it is not at all as if I was a suspicious client looking for drugs or something. Idk where he is now or if he is still practicing, but if he is, do not.

Swiatkowski’s very understanding of my needs, answers questions, and is available when needed. I cannot recommend Dr. [Name] highly enough. From our very first session, I felt genuinely heard and understood. Dr. Swiatkowski has a calm, compassionate demeanor that immediately puts you at ease, and their ability to ask the right questions and offer thoughtful insights has been invaluable to my mental health. They take the time to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and medications clearly, making sure I always felt like a partner in my care. Sessions are never rushed, and there’s always a sense of trust and respect in every interaction.

After an initially positive few appointments, Dr. Swiatowski suddenly disappeared. My calls, emails, and texts were ignored, leaving me in limbo without medications or an answer as to why. If you’re looking for a consistent, reliable provider, this is not it.
