I attended excel therapy just over 4 weeks after sustaining an acute running injury during marathon training. Despite a physio at a different practice diagnosing a nerve injury and being told the injury would resolve with rest, it wasn't getting any better. I attended Excel Therapy at this point. Scott carried out a number of assessments and identified that my left quad was 30% weaker than my right - diagnosing me with a grade 2 quad tear. After a round of acupuncture in the affected area, some simple but effective targeted exercises and clear advice I successfully returned to running a couple of weeks later. Scott was kind and respectful, made clear what he was doing and why, and was happy to answer all my questions. Thoroughly recommended - I'll be attending in the future if (when) I next sustain a running injury.

Scott was recommended to me by a friend, and I’m so glad I followed his advice. One morning I woke up barely able to move and had no idea what was wrong. Scott quickly identified the issue and explained everything. His treatment and guidance have made a huge difference — not only helping me recover from the injury, but also reassured that it wasn't anything major, which is what I was worried about the most. Professional, approachable, and genuinely caring — I can’t recommend Scott enough.

I've been going to see Scott now for a few months having been recommended to him by my PT. Very thorough in his assessments and listens to the issues I've been having which in turn keeps the sessions on track to solve these issues. Scott has a good all round knowledge across multiple disciplines which makes him a good choice to go and see. Would highly recommend to anyone 👌

I have seen Scott a few times to help me so I could do back squats and lunges again. He was very thorough in his assessment and is really good at explaining everything. He gave me some exercises to do, showed me how to do them. Did some manipulation and some acupuncture. I could feel a difference from day 1. He also massively increased my confidence, so I'm starting squatting again. And very quickly, he told me I didn't need to see him again. This is a sign he can be trusted and will help you or fix you. He won't be telling you to come back again and again and again.

Just been to see Scott about very tight and occasionally painful shoulders, that I thought were work related and impacting me in the gym. Scott has literally just resolved problems I didn't even know I had. I've come home able to move so much more comfortably, with a better range of motion and my breathing has completely changed. I wasn't aware that | had so much stiffness it had impacted my ability to breath -I thought I was a naturally shallow breather when in fact I wasn't not able to breath to full capacity due to tension in thoracic spine and ribs. I can immediately breathe more deeply and can feel a massive physical difference in my breathing. I was extremely nervous about this appointment - especially as a woman going to a male therapist, but I felt extremely comfortable with Scott. He was completely professional and explained every step of treatment to ensure I was relaxed throughout. Highly, highly recommend.

If you have movement pain and want a lasting fix, go here! It isn’t an instant fix but if you follow their protocol for you, you will regain the movement you desire without pain. Prior to meeting Scott, I had been living in a 6-9 month cycle of lower back pain from a rowing injury for almost 10 years. I was on a work trip to Nottingham. This during a period of flare of back pain and the accompanying depression. Walking in a desperation of misery I found his business and booked an appointment. This is where my road to recovery and pain free movement began. He diagnosed and discovered weaknesses within my muscular chain and explained how the body compensates and that it sometimes causes other referring pain. It was an epiphany understanding how pain can shut off parts of one’s muscular chain. He then assigned a protocol for me to follow and said this will take a long time but it will get better if diligent in its adherence. Was the process pain free or linear, no. In fact, he said that I should embrace a level 3 of pain daily to see progress. It was different but I could feel my body regaining its movement pattern within the tolerable pain level. I had one more appointment with him and he found more weaknesses to fix. He assigned add-ons to the original protocol and cleared me to move in more aggressive patterns. It has been almost a year and a half since my first visit and I now can do what I want, when I want and not worry about my back. Though I continue to build my back resilience through his exercises. I see them as vitamins and prehab. This has been life changing. Scott is passionate and genuine in his desire to see you move as you want! Go see him!

I visited Scott and his team recently with a back/neck complaint that was a 'nagging injury', which had gotten more painful. I work in sport but the organisation I work for couldn't provide the treatment I needed, so I booked an appointment with Excel Therapy based on some excellent word of mouth reviews I had received from other people I know that work in sport and fitness. I was amazed with the venue, staff and overall treatment. The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Lace Market and the clinic itself has a professional but friendly vibe, which made me feel comfortable from the offset. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the treatment was excellent, with acupuncture to relieve tension, and a fusion of osteopathic and sports therapy to treat the troublesome area. The next day, I felt significantly better than I had in weeks! Needless to say, I will be going back to Scott and his team for future treatment based on the excellent quality of treatment, affordability and friendly approach. All in all, an excellent service- you won't find better in the East Midlands and beyond.

Great experience at Excel Therapy with Scott. I was struggling with a variety of running-related pain in the lead up to a marathon. I worked with Scott over a few months and he was able to figure out the root cause of my issues, address and reduce the pain I was experiencing and helped me to prepare for the big event. His support and advice has been invaluable!

In just a few sessions Scott has used an integrated approach to my recovery, attentively listening to my concerns, taking time to understand what’s needed & always ensuring I am happy to proceed. Most importantly my consistent & painful back issues are so well managed & I have almost no discomfort between my 2 weekly appointments! I have suffered with jaw tension & major migraines but after just a few sessions of acupuncture I have seen great improvement. Scott skilfully combines treatments that are often seen as separate to one another so you are able to benefit from an entire holistic approach from just one specialist. I’m so glad I have started this journey & found a practitioner who is so skilled & knowledgeable in his approach.

Excellent high quality treatment from Scott and the team. Scott is extremely knowledgeable and treated me for a range of injuries. He sorted my back issues getting me comfortable from the first visit and followed up with treatment on my neck which has greatly improved. Happy to recommend him and the team at Excel therapy.
