I've booked yoga here a couple of times, available through Class pass - I know the cost is very cheap for Manchester area. The teacher, Suzie, I've had is always very friendly and all the classes have a very chill environment. I wouldn't say this is the place for pushing yourself and working out but releasing your mind of daily turmoils and relaxing. What yoga is meant for. My only criticisms was finding the yoga studio on later evening appointments, without having someone with me the first time i wouldn't have been able to find it the first time.
I attended yoga with Padmadarshini & had an amazing experience. She's an incredibly sensitive & genuine teacher, whilst also being relaxed & friendly. I attended Somatic yoga which was very different to other yoga practices, it was exactly what I needed. It was very gentle and restorative, but focused entirely on awareness and physical perception, whilst working gently to mobilise the spine specifically. Most of the movement we worked through was not typical yoga poses & to be honest it was a total breath of fresh air. I would highly recommend to everyone, experienced or complete beginner. Go with an open mind.
I went to Somatic Yoga with Padmadarshini the other day and I came out feeling amazing! It was the perfect gentle session after a hard Monday at work. Will be back very soon!
I've been doing the Alexander Technique with Lucy Ascham over the past few months and my posture has improved enormously. I have a greater awareness of how my body functions and can recognise the signs of when I'm falling into bad habits. Lucy has provided me with many useful tools as how to deal with this and consequently I feel more relaxed.
The Alexander Technique was recommended to me when I was diagnosed with an anxiety and panic disorder. Lucy Ascham's Alexander Technique tuition at Bodywise has been key in getting me back to full time work. Using these techniques has helped me reduce the day to day tension I've developed over a lifetime of anxious habits and hypersensitivity. It's been amazing to re-learn how my body works, and how to swap out the survival mechanisms that got me so far for habits more in keeping with how my body is happier to work. I've noticed more ease in my movements and also have tools to reduce unnecesary defense mechanisms in crowds and busy spaces. My favourite 'aha' moment was turning to Lucy and exclaiming 'oh! I've been holding myself up by my shoulders and not my behind!' (I didn't say 'behind'...). Since then, just trusting gravity to support me has made a world of difference in every sitting down situation! I really enjoy the regular lessions; I've been better coping with anxiety, have less pain and feel more awake. Lucy is great and has helped me feel safe in what could be a vulnerable environment; she is both calming and great fun. I always leave my lessons happier and having learned something useful. Very much recommended for anyone.
I have been to yoga classes here for 15 years now. I trust Christine Howitt implicitly - she knows me well and always pays individual attention to all members of her classes. The classes are relaxing but rigorous, and the Buddhist centre is a beautiful venue. The whole experience is nurturing and gorgeous.
Hannah Mackay is a fantastic shiatsu practitioner, whose knowledge, experience, gentle humour and perceptive insights really helped me transition through a challenging period in my life, supporting the restoration of my energy and some persistent physical niggles! Couldn't recommend Hannah highly enough.
I have received acupuncture at Bodywise many times over period of years and am more than satisfied. It's nothing short of amazing to me that I feel so much better when I leave! I have also received Hakome bodywork at the centre which has helped me relax and come into my body with very present and grounded energy. I'm very grateful for the existence of this Centre in such an accessible and centrally located place.
