Catherine MacCoy is a Somatic & NAT Therapist based in London, England. Her therapeutic approach is focused on somatic experiencing and a NAT modality. While specific details about her background and credentials are not provided in the available text, client feedback indicates a focus on business logistics and session management. The reviews suggest a client experience that was perceived as transactional, with limited accommodation for personal circumstances such as unemployment and immigration-related travel. I had a very bad experience working with her. She is extremely money-minded, to the detriment of the client. I wouldn’t recommend her unless you are on a sliding scale and need someone for short term issues. She is hyper focused on money and business logistics in a way that felt detrimental to me as a client. She was aware that I am an immigrant, currently unemployed, and that I had upcoming travel for immigration paperwork. Despite this, there was little accommodation or empathy around my circumstances. She insisted that she could not hold my slot and required me to attend a session solely to be told that my only options were to continue therapy while I was abroad (which felt clinically inappropriate and unsupportive) or be dropped as a client altogether. There was no option for a short pause or for adjusting sessions before or after my trip. Later, she cancelled my January 8th session and asked me to check back after I returned to see if she had availability. I ended up paying £120 for a session that felt unnecessary and purely transactional, only to be left without care. Under the circumstances, this felt particularly harsh. I won't go into details but from a therapeutic standpoint, but I found her pacing and approach questionable, as sessions consistently surfaced multiple issues without sufficient containment or integration. It took me months to find a somatic (SE) therapist, and after this I was back at square one. Ultimately, it led me to find therapists who are properly trained, warmer, generous, more experienced, and better suited to this kind of work.
