Psychotherapist Rory Singer (owner of New Road Psychotherapy) called me a mongrel in a group course on Buddhism and Freudian Theory, and laughed at me after I communicated feeling like an outsider (as I'm of international origin). When I challenged him on this, and stated what he said was unkind, and if this was a safe space we shouldn't call each other mongrels in a course on compassion, love and kindness, he said sorry, then followed with, "This is a safe space, but it isn't a perfect space. That means people are going to say things you don't like sometimes." I found his apology inadequate and lacking in sensible reasoning. Considering Rory Singer is the owner of New Road Psychotherapy, with decades of experience, and claims to have been an ordained monk, his lack of compassion and understanding was incredibly tone-deaf. Adding that he frequently communicated doubting his worth, felt ashamed and humiliated in his life, I sincerely doubt the efficacy of his practice. I have never left a bad review on Google - feel free to check my profile, but felt a need to communicate my experience. As a psychotherapy practice attracts vulnerable people looking for support - I don't believe this is the most appropriate place to find it.
