wish i could give less. they love to charge you for appointments that do not exist.
Pieur has been a reliable practice with skilled providers, and I’m quite pleased with that. But I also want to emphasize how much I appreciate their quality of administrative staff; I’ve had exhausting and constantly-frustrating admin interactions with previous practices, even when I liked my doctor, and unfortunately I think that is the status quo nowadays. Pieur has a highly-skilled team beyond just the doctors, and that definitely deserves recognition, and that makes my life far less stressful.
Poor administrative practices. I was billed a large amount for a cancelled appointment and have had to call four times in the past month to check in on getting a refund. Each time I am told it will happen promptly and that the billing team has been notified, then I am told on the following call that there is no record of me calling. I would not recommend going to a practice that cannot perform basic tasks.
I was hesitant to leave a review, but I feel that others should be warned before choosing Pieur Wellness as a provider. First, almost all of my appointments have been canceled, some at the exact time of my appointment with no notice whatsoever. It is impossible to get the location to answer any calls as you are always referred to the portal, even when you urgently need a prescription refill due to a canceled appointment… Also, I have been billed incorrectly and when asked to dispute, I received no correspondence. This truly just feels like a money grab and a quick in and out. Appointments are supposed to be 30 minutes, but I have never had an appointment longer than 5 minutes which does not feel fair for me to pay $40 each time just to be either billed incorrectly, canceled on, or not being able to receive my medication. Do not come here unless you like being put on the back burner and ignored. To add onto this, I was called about my grievences and was told “cancelations happen, that is life” and that the billing error was my fault. Never were any of my issues addressed, but diminished and ignored once again. Do not come here for help, they harm more than they help.
Dr. Svetlana Yakov is an amazing psychiatrist. She has been able to access my situation and help me make the best decisions for my treatment. She is not concerned with getting you on the most medication possible, but instead getting you the right medications. She listens and wants what is best for you more than any other psychiatrist that has treated me. Pieur Wellness does seem to only care about payment, getting it by any means necessary, even being too lazy to go through my insurance when my insurance information changed, but still they are professional and courteous. If you are in need of mental health services, I wouldn't recommend anyone else at that facility except Dr. Yakov.
Pieur Wellness relies on its patient management system for scheduling, emailing, and prescription refills, so if you're not comfortable with this type of set up it might not be the best practice for you. I can reschedule/schedule all my appointments through their web portal. Admin staff returns my calls promptly, and will even call me back when I don't leave a VM. They have always responded to the emails I've sent in a timely manner & have always been helpful. It is hard to find a psychiatrist who treats adult ADHD in the DMV so I appreciate that they provide treatment & medication management for this. I also appreciate that they've kept their virtual office visits, as this doesn't require me to take time off for my appointments.
Echoing the other reviews for Pieur Wellness. I spoke to 3 different people about being billed for an appointment I never scheduled in the first place and they still went ahead and charged my card against my consent. In addition, I have not gone a single month without having something wrong with my prescription refill. When I called the Admin to let him know my pharmacy refused to fill my medication due to missing information on my script (required by state and federal law), I was yelled at...
Both of my doctors quit within a year - I didn't even know the second doctor had quit until the night before an appointment, where I received an automated email notification that my appointment was canceled. No follow-up to reschedule, no prescription refill, for almost 3 weeks after that canceled appointment. It's nearly impossible to speak to a real person on the phone - I've had to leave several VMs before getting a response. They don't prioritize patient care - it baffles me how a practice that prescribes such important medication can be so unresponsive.
Poor communication as a business but nice doctors. I left a negative review on here and Dr. Williams called to talk to me about it. I had a bad experience with administration when my doctor left for another position and the admin were not very responsive. Dr. Williams called to figure out the problem and was very nice but kind of defensive instead of just listening and saying they would work to fix it... They are not very responsive over the portal which is their main line of communication and then called me at 7pm on a Friday night to ask about my many messages I'd sent which I was not very happy about but I get that that is some people's preferred time for communication. After clearing up their confusion, they filled my prescription but never told me they were doing so so I was left waiting for it to be refilled for days when it was actually just sitting in the pharmacy. All in all, not impressed with the business plan and office people... but the medical professionals are doing their best. I did continue care with them and things have been better since leaving my original review. I forgot about an appointment and was very late and they were very understanding and helped me to reschedule.
I would never recommend Pieur Wellness to anybody who has ongoing mental health struggles. First off, every single appointment I had scheduled got cancelled just before, and they told me they would work on rescheduling. Then they would reach out and ask my availability THAT DAY, sometimes with less than two hour's notice. When I said I couldn't do that day, I would have to wait weeks to get the next same-day request to meet. Secondly, I started experiencing increased depressive episodes in response to the medicine changes prescribed by Dr. Alam, who showed little to no apathy in calls. I messaged her to tell her this, and she never responded. Between the lack of care towards patients and disorganization of scheduling, I do not recommend. (PS this is the first one-star review I have ever left, but shame on Pieur for not understanding they are dealing with the mental wellbeing of human beings)
