I’ve known Dr. Sheri Vanino since 2006, and she is incredibly smart, deeply experienced, and truly gifted at what she does. She is the real deal when it comes to trauma therapy — an exceptional psychologist who brings warmth, depth, respect, and so much expertise to her work. I would recommend her to anyone I care about who is trying to heal from trauma.

I have known Dr. Vanino for 25 years- first as a classmate when earning our doctorates in psychology together and now as a colleague. I refer to her regularly and she is an excellent clinician. Dr. Vanino is bright, engaged, empathic and exceptionally well trained. Though she specializes in trauma, she does great work with clients for a variety presenting complains/struggles. I highly recommend her without reservations!

I shared a very hard sexual assault experience with Sheri during a session. An experience I have carried inside for a long time and haven’t shared with more than two people. I was very vulnerable in my experience and how a current issue was triggering me and bringing back all of those old unresolved feelings. Sheri said very little but did speak up to say that I had an issue setting boundaries with men and was perhaps too friendly with them and that was the issue. She suggested that I “work on this” so that, for lack of better words, the bad situations I found myself in previously wouldn’t happen again in my future. When I called her out on how hurtful this was and that if felt like victim blaming she tried to back track by saying no I didn’t say that you must have misunderstood without offering any correction or support. If you’ve gone through a sexual abuse trauma I would not recommend seeking help or support from here. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Colorado Licensing board as the way she handled something so vulnerable to me was completely unprofessional and I hope no one with similar trauma has to go through the same experience.
