My experience with Better Life Therapy was deeply disappointing and, in many ways, harmful. I was paired with the only Black therapist in the practice, and I initially felt hopeful that I would receive culturally aware and supportive care. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. At a vulnerable point in my life, I was seeking guidance while navigating a domestic relationship situation. Instead of feeling empowered, supported, or safely guided, I felt led astray and left relying on advice and judgment that ultimately did not help me make healthier decisions for myself. Looking back, I wish I had received more informed, trauma-aware, and culturally competent support during that time. What also stood out to me was the lack of diversity and cultural competence within the practice overall. It felt performative rather than intentional, as though having only a couple of Black therapists was more about appearances than creating a truly inclusive and culturally responsive environment for clients of color. Therapy should be a place where clients feel seen, protected, understood, and empowered. Unfortunately, I did not feel that level of care or competency here, and I would not recommend this practice based on my personal experience.

I had no idea where to start with finding a therapist with my new insurance. Jen answered the call and was exceptionally helpful. I haven't used this service for therapy yet, but I have my first meeting scheduled and could not be more grateful for people like Jen who listen and walk you through how to select the right therapist! Feels far too rare in healthcare.

I had a wonderful experience with Better Life Therapy after experiencing trauma with my first baby. I was able to let go of the anxiety I had around being pregnant again because of the help I got from Krissy.
