From my professional experience with Dr. Aschbacher, rather than as client, her background is one of the more unusual and compelling combinations I have encountered in clinical psychology. She trained and researched at UCSF, where she developed genuine expertise in the relationship between the brain and the body, as the foundation of her clinical thinking. She then went on to lead AI and data science teams at companies like Oura, Meru Health, and SandboxAQ, organizations that sit at the frontier of physiological measurement and mental health technology. This background has enabled her to deploy tools and a level of rigor to nervous system regulation that most therapists do not have. Her use of biofeedback during sessions allows her to track how the body is actually responding in real time and to help bring a client into a more receptive physiological state before the deeper work begins. The brain and body, in other words, become active participants in treatment rather than passive ones. For anyone who has tried therapy and felt like something was missing, or like they could not quite access the process no matter how willing they were, this integrated approach is worth serious consideration. She is the unusual clinician who has operated at the highest levels of both research and applied technology, and strives to bring it all back into the room with her clients.
I have known Kirsten for several years and have a deep respect for her wisdom and care. She has this wonderful blend of intuition, knowledge, curiosity and love for her patients. I recommend her wholeheartedly.
